Planetary Annihilation: TITANS [Steam], the game I wish was more popular to be updated and fixed up more often is, surprisingly, still alive.
The developers pushed out another patch last night, which adds in 16 new custom commander units free for everyone. That's not a typo, they really did add in that many.
They added in a new POV camera mode, where you can follow a particular unit and see the action from it's perspective.
They also did some AI improvements. AI can now share armies and you can resume anywhere for AI games with no human players. Both of those are pretty damn useful!
There's also a new win condition, Sudden death for teams (protect your weakest player). On top of that there's a few bug fixes, balance changes and a modding adjustment.

Well, thing is that on Optimus enabled systems it's different. When I run PA using primusrun (on Nvidia), gui is messed up and has a lots of artifacts. Maybe it's because coherent runs as separate process and it's probably using Intel graphics. When using optirun, it's exactly same as with --software-ui. And no, the window resize trick doesn't work. It's just black screen in menu with social bar.
And as far as I know --software-ui was recommended and it ran perfectly for be before update.
CoherentUI is the biggest mistake that PA suffers from. Software like that shouldn't exist.

That would be awesome if you could come up with something. I didn't have a chance to try a different hardware. But issue has been already reported here Linux/Fedora25 black menu screen.

Yeah, it would have been OK, if it actually worked! Good idea, terrible implementation. And I'm not the only one having troubles with it.

I actually was a kick starter backer from when they initially added Linux support to the alpha version of the game. The game was OK, but I never really had the enjoyment I had from Supreme Commander. The developers did some shady things, and it seemed their interest in Linux was never in creating a smooth experience. I spent all that money to play it on Linux but the Windows client was always a lot more polished.
I stopped playing when they announced you had to pay for Titans to get the full game experience that was promised initially....

Nothing in the expansion was advertised to be included in the original game. As a Kickstarter backer you got a copy of the Titans expansion (I got a free copy too just for being a competitive player).

I'm playing galactic war every day now and I really like it! The game felt overwhelming on hard at first but then I read some beginner tips and started getting grip on it. Always expand, always scout, harass the enemy from all sides, don't let resources to be in the blue zone (that means you waste them) and you'll be ok. At least against the AI. BTW, it uses neural networks internally which is interesting by itself.

When you want more of a challenge there's the Queller AI mod. But IMO the real fun is over in multiplayer. ;)

Yeah, that's what pops up in google on the top. Quite useful and motivational guides! We're playing 3 vs 2 AI bots (on hard) and it's a tough challenge. Only a couple of times we were able to beat them. The game requires quite a big attention span and some patience and teamwork. Overall, I love it! Pathfinding could be better though, large crowds still get stuck from time to time, especially on metal planets with lots of obstacles.
