As always, GamingOnLinux is entirely funded by the users for the users and hopefully we can stay online for a long time.

First of all, I just wanted to thank all contributors to my Patreon campaign! You are all wonderful people helping me do this, I feel incredibly privileged to be able to do this thanks to you. I write hundreds of articles every single month and I can’t overstate how thankful I truly am to have the ability to do it, because of you.

Recently I’ve been a bit disheartened by some of the messages left in the Patreon cancellation box, which are all 100% anonymous. To all past supporters: thank you, hope you come back sometime! I won’t quote them or get bogged down with it, some people must go into it without fully understanding me or how GOL runs, but that’s life! Can’t win them all as they say.

As always, thank you for everything and I hope how open I am about communicating, well, everything is appreciated by the community. I value open communication whenever possible!

My inbox is always open if anyone has an issue and I’m always in the IRC, Telegram and Discord channels.
Sidenote: Please don’t email me for personal user support, we have the Forum for that.

If you didn’t see in a previous article, I will be starting up the GamingOnLinux vs Feral Interactive weekly events once again starting Tuesday next week! Due to the time when Feral is able to do it, I will also be hosting a Dawn of War III evening event once a week as well. Hopefully we can get some good community games going for it. I look forward to being trashed by all of you! You can find all our scheduled events on this page.

I gave my Patrons a teaser on this earlier, but here’s a little something I’ve worked on recently:

Not real numbers, or a real game, just FYI. Don't go fishing for something!

It has been requested that I show the Min/Max FPS in benchmarks when I do them (if the benchmark provides them). I’m pleased to say (as the picture suggests) that it’s now possible. I’ve updated our Chart code to support it and it’s looking pretty good. As always, the code is entirely 100% open source on gitlab.

As usual, I won’t be asking for support like this for another month or two, because I just like to get on with it and not bug anyone.

If you fancy chipping in, head here: https://www.patreon.com/liamdawe, if not, thank you for reading this far! If you want to do a small one-time donation, Paypal is also now an option. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I am the owner of GamingOnLinux. After discovering Linux back in the days of Mandrake in 2003, I constantly came back to check on the progress of Linux until Ubuntu appeared on the scene and it helped me to really love it. You can reach me easily by emailing GamingOnLinux directly.

Sad that you lost support mate.
I'll still be supporting as I like this site and community.
Hope the hit wasn't too bad (didn't check the average prior)

Patreon does not remove data from closed accounts. This ensured my data was left for hackers to find in the patreon breach. It's still on their site even if I made several requests to have my account credentials removed from their database.
This is a problem on more online services and I shun away from those sites if I know ahead of time. Privacy is very important to me (which is why I actively block the facebook sidebar widget on this site as well, among other things).
You may want to find alternative ways for people to support you if they have the ability to.

I fully support the good work on your site. Your blog is serving a small niche audience and I am thankful. Please consider putting advertising on your site to further support yourself.

does GOL have a one off donation system, as opposed to monthly patreon. Given my real life monetary situation, continual donation wouldn't be something I'd be interested in, but a one off donation would be possible at certain times.

I too will put in to Patreon when my real life monetary situation improves. I run two of my own websites, though they aren't any of the same amount of work or cost as GoL, but I have to keep them running while taking everything else into account.

GoL is undoubtedly one of the best gaming resources for Linux out there and very much worth supporting.

Giving my monthly support to Patreon is a waste of money in the long run, because you don't get all the part i pay to Patreon. Not sure how to deal with it. A one time Paypal donation wouldn't be better ? I don't know what are the taxes and all. I can't give much because of my situation, but you're one of the very few website i subscribe, even if 2€, 2€*Many = a lot.

Sorry to hear people have been leaving, but that's always bound to happen. You can't please everyone so just don't bother trying and do your job the way you think it should be done.

You're doing very good things in my book and I enjoy the site immensely, FWIW.

Please don't get discouraged, there are lots of people who love your work.

I will continue to support as long as my budget affords it. I wish GOL.com a long happy life. ^_^

I did investigate Patreon, but until they change the way they do payments it is a no-go for me. I'd like to support GoL, not the banks.
