The website is growing up! On the 5th of July GamingOnLinux will turn 8 years old and we have a little plan. Plus a few quick thoughts on 2017 so far. Note: All times are in UTC.

On Wednesday July 5th, we will livestream from 9AM to 1PM and again from 8PM to when we literally cannot go on. You can find our Twitch channel here. We will do a good mix of games and anyone is free to join in at any time. You only need to add me on Steam to participate.

Day Stream - 9AM - 1PM
Rocket League
Micro Machines World Series
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Dying Light

Evening Stream 8PM - whenever
Grid Autosport
Ballistic Overkill
+Possibly more!

It’s been an incredible 8 years and I’m shocked at how far we have come as a gaming platform. From being excited near our beginning about tiny indie games like Osmos, to end up livestreaming AAA games on release day years later, what an absolutely crazy journey it has been for us all.

If you like what we do, consider throwing your wallets at the Patreon. Even a single dollar helps, as it all adds up in the end. I’m very appreciative of everyone past and present who has supported GamingOnLinux and my goal of furthering Linux gaming.

I said in my end of year review for 2016 that it was “going to be another truly massive year for us”. Even in June, I think we can safely say it’s been pretty amazing so far!

Feral Interactive have certainly been busy: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III with OpenGL & Vulkan released, Total War: Shogun 2 & Fall of the Samurai released, Mad Max met Vulkan, HITMAN released and DiRT Rally also released. They are also currently teasing another Linux port.

Honourable mentions to some other awesome games that support Linux: Serious Sam Fusion with Vulkan, Owlboy, Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition, Day of Infamy, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Civilization VI and the list just doesn’t stop. Obviously I could name many more, but it would be a rather long article.

Mesa drivers have continued to improve at an crazy pace, with performance constantly being worked on. I'm always impressed at how they've changed in the space of a year. Seeing people actually recommend an AMD GPU now is a nice change. Considering how long I've been around, I remember the days of seeing people constantly warned about bad AMD GPU drivers, nice to see the turnaround for sure.

Imagine what another few months could give us, there’s rather a lot of 2017 still left. There’s going to be a few good surprises I imagine!

Here’s to another 8 fantastic years, cheers!

Added, added and added :)

I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to join, but it would be fun to play some Rocket league & Borderlands 2. (Maybe even a bit of PAYDAY? :P). I haven't played much lately (except the other day when I forgot to close TIS-100 in the background ^_^ )

Happy birthday :D

Edit: Why did my ^_^") got turned into ^_^") ? This is weird...

Congrats, Liam! Eight years is a long time.

I'll look forward to watching the early stream at work, and hopefully participating in the evening. ^_^

I'm older than that.

I can't believe it's already 8 years. Congratulation.

Well, let's do another 8 then.

Wow! It means also a year since I discovered Linux Gaming, since I started buying games on Steam (+ Humble Bundle + GOG) for Linux and since I stopped dual booting Windows (I still have the partition though). My wallet wants revenge!

Lots changed, I still remember that having Sin stream something was rare (for the 7th GOL birthday and Halloween).

Happy Birthday GOL! Keep growing!

P.S.: we want the cake! Who's gonna make it?

I am not sure when I will be able to join in, but I will pick up a copy of Rocket League and try to join in the festivities.

A little difficult with the times, I am in the US, Eastern Time (4 hours behind UTC in summer, 5 hours in the winter) So in the morning you are starting around 5am local time... and my night owl usually wears out around 4am. :) But I will send out friend invites... If I am not around on the 5th, maybe our schedules will match up in the future.

I do play mostly single player games, especially builders like rimworld. and tower defense games, but factorio is multiplayer and so are a bunch of the RTS games I have. As I said, I will probably pick up rocket league as well, but I will be a noob (obviously)

I am stretch611 on steam if anyone wants to team up. With the same "tuxlon" avatar that I have here.

I think Tuubi mentioned some stores in Samsai's country do delivery.
Just need some websites.

Let's make a stream for the ages.
