The Escapists 2 [Steam, Official Site] from Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios is set to launch on August 22nd and it seems like it will have Linux support at launch.
I reached out to Team17 before publishing to see if they would confirm the same-day Linux release, but they didn't respond to any tweets or emails from me, sadly. It already has a SteamOS/Linux icon on Steam, but the system requirements for Linux are listed as "TBC", so they might still be working on it.

The game looks really fancy and fun, however this dev's answer doesn't fill me with enthusiasm...
Added to wishlist nevertheless.

QuoteTurns out my intel was off, and it is indeed coming to both Windows, Mac and SteamOS/Linux! Sorry for the confusion!
And yes, cross-play across those Steam platforms is a thing as well!

This is how I like to see pixel art. Much more detail and colour but still with the charm of 2d pixel art.

Agree!
There are a few retro-art games that make use of the style for artistic reasons and excel in it. But a LOT of indie games use it only because they have no actual artistic talent available whatsoever. The difference shows quite clearly...

Don't like the pre-order culture creeping up yet AGAIN , but will probably buy it on release (despite never having completed an escape in the previous one)
