EVERSPACE [Steam] is still coming to Linux, but sadly it's taking a lot longer than anyone had hoped. They've been working through the issues and have given an update.
It was originally due to be on Linux around September of last year, but they ran into major problems with shaders. They then ran into issues with mouse movement, fullscreen not working correctly etc. They've had driver bugs, problems with Unreal Engine itself and so on. You can see a little timeline by using our article search to see.
Here's the latest they've said on Steam:
I really appreciate how open they are about what's happening. It's interesting to note that Epic themselves have been giving them some help on this.
I really hope we see it on Linux before the end of the year, it looks amazing.

QuoteThanks a lot for your interest and your patience.
We are still on it. There is progress and some of the major issues are solved and we have a working development version again. Other problems still have to be solved. In the first place we currently have to deal with some remaining graphics issues like screen flickering and missing post effects, which are probably related to broken custom stencil buffers. When these issues are fixed, there also is some more exhaustive testing required, than we did so far.
Of course we are in good contact with the folks at Epic and they really do a great job in supporting us and sharing their expertise on the engine.

It's good that Epic are involved, but it seems they aren't actively working on the Linux version of Unreal Engine itself.

I'm glad they're still working on it. Most would have given up by now.
And now it seems that the EVERSPACE developers' work might improve the Unreal Engine for Linux.
Win-Win.
[edit] I just realized the guy above me said the same thing much better than I did. :-\

Which is demonstrated by their new game that just got released. Support for Windows and Mac, but not Linux.

This is one I will have to have a look at, although I am a big Elite fan. Is it comparable to Eilte even ?
Still quite miffed that the Elite:dangerous money I put in was never put towards a Linux version even though the fund goals were met generously back in the day.

Liam, could you please stop posting screenshots of EVERSPACE whenever you write about it?
The more screenshots I get so see from this game, the more I want it.
Seriously though, it's great to see that the developers still try to get this game working on Linux as well. As has been said already: others would've already given up by now. So I salute ROCKFISH Games for still trying to land this game on Linux. Hut ab, Jungs!

Because of their excellent communication and dedication, I'll gladly pay full price when released just to support them.

Respect to such tenacious devs for not giving up. I'm not much of a space fan, however should they succeed I will buy it to thank them for their efforts.
