Join the fun on our new server for Rust

You asked, some of you repeatedly and so I listened. GOL now officially runs a server for Rust [Steam] and you're all welcome to join in.

You can find it as "gamingonlinux.com" in the community tab, or direct IP: 163.172.17.175:30616. I also sorted out one of those nifty banners for it:

Note: The first Thursday of every month the server gets reset, this is not controlled by us. It's current a feature of the game.

While Garry from Facepunch has said some silly things in the past about Linux, the game actually runs really quite nicely. You shouldn't take what he says too seriously either, as he loves a good troll. You do currently seem to need to put it into Windowed mode or it won't register any input.

It's quite likely we will use this server in future livestreams and play with the community sessions, which could be quite fun with a good bit of PVP.

We also run other game servers, you can see them all on this page.

Enjoy! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'm planning a huge base after the wipe. Currently my planning of it only has 2 floors and already cost 30k wood and 90k sheet metal or 180k stone. Cost of doors and locks not included. It is designed in a way that I can start small, and expand when I have materials, so no need for a temporary base either.

Of course you need to start in a relatively open area so that it's clearly visible for potential raiders. :P

Related to this, have you tested other servers since the update?
I can log and play on any server apparently normally, but only until I hit an ore. At the first spark the game hangs and (after killing the game) I'm unable to log in again.

I had no problem killing and farming on rustafied, got a base up and all. Didn't see any issues,

Hm, thanks. I still have this issue though, even on this server now. It seems to be happening by itself sometimes, but hitting an ore node is more likely to trigger it.
Lowering the settings seem to alleviate the issue though, played on 1 for few minutes and seems OK, (ugly though).
I see a couple of (Windows?) users having the same issue: http://steamcommunity.com/app/252490/discussions/4/1470841715962625377/

Try a reinstall possibly? and make check integrity of install, I have had my rust install borked so many times.
