The new free update includes bug fixes and performance improvements, revamped encounter balancing, a new “Heroic” difficulty mode, revamped mecha fights and a New Game+ mode. You can find the full changelog here.

You can see my original thoughts on it here if interested. Considering I recommended it back then, it's hard not to say the same now with such a good update! Going by some of the newer user reviews, it certainly seems like the new update is an all around improvement. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Looks cool! Might be a good follow-up to Disgaea 2 for me!

And they have the right idea about live action in game trailers: if live action is going to be there, it should be brief! Get to the game ASAP! And the gag at the end of the live action actually made me laugh! So well done with the trailer at least!

Hum, I am not getting the updated version on Steam. Can someone confirm that this update has made it to Linux yet?
