Another Wine development release is now available! Just today Wine 2.13 has released and features a few noteworthy changes.
Major changes:
They fixed 33 mentioned bugs in games like Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, Ion Assault, The Witcher 3 and more. Overall it looks like a pretty decent release.
I'm always fascinated with Wine development, chasing that ever-moving target, but they're doing a fantastic job. I would be surprised if in 2-3 years time if most DX9 games didn't have good to excellent support, at the current rate of Wine development.
Major changes:
- Unicode data updated to Unicode 10.0.0.
- Nicer looking default mouse cursors.
- Persistent connections support in WinHTTP.
- Message Framing protocol support in WebServices.
- Improved metafile support in GdiPlus.
- Debug registers support in x86-64 exception handling.
- Anti-aliasing improvements in DirectWrite.
- Various bug fixes.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
DX9 games actually mostly have very good support already. You probably meant DX11 ones?

It is the case for me as well. I can't remember the last time I'd tried to install dx9 game and wouldn't be able to... it works with all the games I try and hopefully DX11 will get into great shape as well soon.

Even though dx9 games work pretty good there are still some outliers. League of legends is one of those where I get like half the performance even though it's a dx9 game plus lots of other little annoyances.

Lots of games still need workarounds of some form. DX9 is only one part of the puzzle though of course they still have to imorove various other things to get more games to work flawlessly.

work and work flawlessly are two different things. I'm able to get most dx9 games working also but very often you come up against less then ideal performance situations or weird graphical glitches that can't be resolved such as flickering shadows or other effects.

I've finished Alan Wake, it works, the audio problem I think is fixable by setting pulse to 44100 khz.
But liam is right, some games need to improve, last one I've played was Batman Arkham Origins while it was playable the performance was halved, on windows I got 120fps and on wine was 60fps, sometimes diping to 1fps. And that's with gallium drivers.
when I wrote "audio problems" I mean the lack of audio in the cutscenes... I think wine cannot demux properly the .bik files.
The thing was worse in Darksiders the last time I tried it; no cutscenes at all.
