Another Wine development release is now available! Just today Wine 2.13 has released and features a few noteworthy changes.

Major changes:
  • Unicode data updated to Unicode 10.0.0.
  • Nicer looking default mouse cursors.
  • Persistent connections support in WinHTTP.
  • Message Framing protocol support in WebServices.
  • Improved metafile support in GdiPlus.
  • Debug registers support in x86-64 exception handling.
  • Anti-aliasing improvements in DirectWrite.
  • Various bug fixes.

They fixed 33 mentioned bugs in games like Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, Ion Assault, The Witcher 3 and more. Overall it looks like a pretty decent release.

I'm always fascinated with Wine development, chasing that ever-moving target, but they're doing a fantastic job. I would be surprised if in 2-3 years time if most DX9 games didn't have good to excellent support, at the current rate of Wine development. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Anyone tried on Bioshock Remastered?

Looking at what people get to run in WINE just fine, I guess I am not particularly lucky with my taste in games. Of all the games I'd have an interest in getting them to run in Wine, the ONLY one working well enough for me not want to boot into Windows is Star Wars The Old Republic. Guild Wars 2 runs sort of ok too, but I no longer play that. Everything else I ever tried doesn't work at all or not well enough. I usually have little interest in vintage games, I guess that's why...

On the plus side, I haven't played non-Linux game in ages (last one was Fallout 4), so I increasingly don't care anymore. :D

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure with Wine?! How is it working? Somebody hacked the Portal of Power?! I've been trying to run that one via Dolphin-Emu for quite some time without success. Anyone got a "How to"?

Last game I played in wine was dragons dogma, it worked best with G9 drivers but there was a issue with the shadows causing aliased white outlining when they overlapped (which flickered). May not sound that bad but the game has LOTS of trees and bushes with overlapping shadows so the artifact ended up everywhere and was annoying as heck.

In my case works stable (tested with wine 2.10) and dont have this bug (possible gallium bug)

However maybe can post this bug to gallium git* because gallium users dont have wine official support

*This apply if you stay using dont official supported wine version case nine

I tried without G9, could be a FuryX amdgpu related issue. I haven't done more testing about it. Also I see your running NVIDIA card, so yeah big difference.

HAHAHAHAHA!
That was funny :D

Wait.. Was that a real question?...
According to thousands of people the game is almost unplayable on windows, so...

About wine 2.13, I tried the GOG version of Metro 2033 Redux and it doesn't work... with Wine Staging 2.12 the game load with no more than 30 fps and a choppy audio... After a moment, the screen of the game was filled with weird colors.. but the game menu looks fine.. I will try to take a pic.

Audio/video under WINE: people usually forget that WINE uses GStreamer for deconding, then you should install all the plugins (-good, -bad, -ugly in the Gstreamer naming) to have proper decoding, you have to do this for 32- and 64-bit. Also you need (as in Windows) to install the Windows Media codecs (WMP9, 10 and so on).

Dragon's Dogma: I played the game some months ago (with WINE 1.9.x if I recall correctly), there were some problems plus random crashes, but the game worked best using Gallium Nine. I had a big problem with input (the mouse stopped working randomly), but I discovered that installing "dinput" solved the problem.

EDIT: fixed typos

You need wmp# only for games that use messed up MS codecs. Not all do luckily.

Just gave it a try on 2.12 staging and it didn't even start.
