Are you in need of a new semi-realistic FPS? Well, Burst The Game [Steam, Official Site] might scratch that itch for you as long as their free to play model isn't terrible.

The latest public video I could find on it was a few months ago, but even there it looks reasonably good:

Linux could use a few more even reasonably good shooter, especially of the more realistic and modern variety. I don't have massively high hopes, but graphically it does look quite nice. They claim it has a full customization system (think Call of Duty-like) along with the ability to lean and vault over objects.

It shows Linux system requirements on Steam, so unless something happens it should be on Linux at release. In any case, I've emailed the developer to double check and see if we can get in early to give it some thoughts.

About the game
QuoteThe war has had blown up when the BURST terrorist group started to attack the government five years ago. They fought us using the weapons we had created to guarantee liberty. They started by attacking the internet. They then attacked most of the important government positions. The exchange stocks were rapidly falling as revolutions began to burst. People did not have enough money to recover from these assaults, so the government started to opt for extremist politics and made the people be even more revolted. Countries were torned as richest people took power using armed groups. The population started to flee in the countryside, forming communities and little groups, fighting to have a small part of the freedom they once had. Some groups were fighting against others, and some were trying to restore liberty.

You are in one of these groups. In Burst, you play as a soldier who fights for freedom and democracy in all of the most disastrous and apocalyptic environment to win over your opponent using strategy and communication. Also the game is free, so you can invite all your friends to play with you at no cost !

It release into Early Access on August 23rd, so not long to find out. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

It looks like a poor Unity game. Don't let standard Unity assets fool you.

Quoting: GuestWorst game name so far this year?
haha, seems to be a thing with f2p games. terrible names. but the odds that this will have a decent business model are kinda low. i'll still give it a try, obviously, when it comes out.

Good find!

Ballistic Overkill is a great MP shooter but we could use some more realistic-style stuff. Crossing my fingers it won't be pay-to-win

From the trailer it does look quite poor, don't let yourself get dazzled with pretty graphics. But it's free, so probably no real harm done if it sucks, except wasted time and space.

This game uses the UE4 engine.
