Looks like Dota 2 [Official Site] is set to gain two more heroes that were shown off in a teaser video from Valve, plus recent changes aimed to help new players.
Let's take a look at the teaser:
Valve have also announced a few changes to the game, aimed at helping new players get accustomed to it's many heroes. For your first twenty-five games, you will be limited to a curated group of twenty heroes. They claim these heroes are pretty successful with new players. A pretty sane move really, considering how overwhelming it may seem to newbies.
Also, new players will now be matched up with people who have consistently high behaviour scores. An attempt at hiding the toxic community while they hook people in. Another good move, hopefully this will give people a better experience.
I love the game, but I refuse to play it now without a team of people I'm friendly with.

Actually I think it's quite sad that Valve seems to focus on the Dota series lately. As a very active TF2 player I can say that we haven't had any major updates and are suffering from cheaters and so on. Seems like Valve is after sales only now...

Volvo has been ignoring TF2 for way too long, if they had taken (real) effort into it, Overwatch wouldn't have stolen so much player base, I am included in the later, it's not acceptable that the game takes so long to boot, that comp really is not working (matchmaking), and every time I try to play comp, it crashes just right when the map is loading, giving me a penalization.
I just wish they released it as an Open Source project this October, when it will becom 10 years old, cause I'm really tired of silly hats updates. I would swap back again to it, but there are too much buts in my case, and beleive me I hate booting into windows just for OW.
Sorry for the "unrelated" rant.

QuoteI love the game, but I refuse to play it now without a team of people I'm friendly with.I'd like to see features that facilitates forming teams:
- "revans": after a lost match (with random players), there should be an option to play again with the same people against the same enemy. Playing (a few matches) with or against the same players lets you learn their tactics better, and develop counter tactics.
- after a match (with random players), there should be a single click option to search for a new match together, as a temporary team

QuoteAlso, new players will now be matched up with people who have consistently high behaviour scores.I wish they would do this by standard for all players.
There are few matches where I don't report someone for ordering the team to report a teammate because of bad gameplay.
I'd rather wait a few minutes more to have a team that deserves to be called like that than playing more or less instantly with a group of people that fight each other instead of the opposing team.

As the legend goes like this "Game devs (maybe others too) at Valve work at what they want":
So, does anybody know if Valve pays a gratification/bonus for financially successful products?
Maybe even scaling with how successful they are.
That could explain why we don't see those wonderful single-player games anymore. :/

Even though I haven't played Dota 2 for quite a while, I do really like it. I watched many of the championship games last week as well. It runs fantastically on Linux, looks great, and it's free!
