I must admit, something about Tropico 5 didn't really click with me in the end. I'm hoping this one will, as the older titles I do have fond memories of. I will likely give this a review when the time is right.

It's pleasing to know that Kalypso Media will continue to publish Linux games!

About the game:

In times of political turmoil and social unrest, the people are calling for visionary leaders, who will steer the fate of their country with foresight and ingenuity. Prove yourself once again as a feared dictator or peace-loving statesman on the island state of Tropico and shape the fate of your very own banana republic through four distinctive eras. Face new challenges on the international stage and always keep the needs of your people in mind.

For the first time in the series, manage extensive archipelagos, build bridges to connect your islands and use new means of transportation and infrastructure. Send your Tropicans on raids to steal the wonders of the world, including the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Customize your palace at will and give election speeches from your balcony, to win the favor of your subjects.

Tropico has always looked absolutely fantastic. I remember some magazine article about the first game where they were creating little trees like those who play Miniatures games like to do, and then they were rendering based on those miniature trees.

Kalypso is quickly turning into another publisher like Paradox, though mysteriously we never got Urban Empire. Though looking at the reviews on Steam, maybe that's a good thing?

There is a gameplay preview available on Youtube for those that are interested.

I will likely pickup T6 as I own the previous iterations however I am getting a little bored with the lack of innovation so I am hoping this game will offer something new to spice it up a bit.

I tried Tropico 5 during a free weekend and it couldn't really interest me. Which is weird, because I normally enjoy these types of games. Maybe this one works better for me.

Looking good! As an avid player of first game in the series (using Wine) as well as the latest one (since it is native on Linux), I have high hopes in the upcoming Tropico, this time from a completely different developer than previously.

I'm a bit worried about the UE4. Many Devs seems to have Problems with the Engine if they want to bring a game to Linux. Hopefully they test it during develepment and not only press the "publish to linux" button on the end and then see the problems.

Looks really good and will def buy it.
I like how they don't add too much fancy stuff to each game just to attract new players, but I also find the first games more charming than the new ones. I loved T2.

A detailed interview. Unfortunately only in German:

https://youtu.be/SjMFy7YEAOk

Linux and MacOS is definitely on the list. It will be a simultaneous release for Windows, MacOS, Linux, PS4 and XBox.

See: https://youtu.be/SjMFy7YEAOk?t=14m40s

The reporters have inquired. The developer answered that they have the necessary experience for this and because of the Unreal Engine also do not have to start at zero.

Have over 100h in Tropico5. Excited. :)

Ha, I have played a bit of the first and was amazed at how well the 5th plays with the Steam Controller, but beyond playing those two for an hour or so, I am in the same boat where I own all of them, but haven't really played them.

I will most likely get it. I have over 200 hours in Tropico 5 and enjoyed the campaigns. I wish that 6 will be better for playing multiplayer. While it can be done in 5, it's very clear that single player is the better experience. So I hope for both solid single player and multiplayer.

IDK, for me Tropico 5 looks as much as Tropico 4. Except Tropico 4 wasn't there on Linux. And if I recall correctly, not all Tropico players love pretty much a thing like foreign intrusion, which was presen in the latest games of the series.

Tropico 5 had too many mediocre reviews for me to feel comfortable buying it. Maybe 6 will be an improvement.

Tropico 5 looks great but I haven’t managed to even finish the tutorial due to the over-complexity and lack of fun. Hopefully T6 will be different enough… (and released on GOG!)
Really? I'm sometimes fed up with too complex games, but Tropico 5 is none of them! It's quite easy to start since all the options are quite limited at first they evolve throughout the game.

Tropico 5 was pretty simple, overly complex games are ones like Crusader Kings 2...
