Feral Interactive are up to their usual teasing once again. They've announced F1 2017 is coming to Mac, but they're also directly requesting to see demand for it on Linux.

See their Tweet:

Should Linux re-join our FORMULA ONE team with F1 2017? It won’t be this month if they do, but show us there's demand! #THEREQUESTINATOR pic.twitter.com/MLuN2IJAyv

I believe this is the first time they've ever asked the Linux community about demand for a specific game. The interesting thing really is their wording "It won’t be this month if they do" meaning there's a real chance.

Considering they previously ported F1 2015 to Linux and said F1 2016 won't be ported as sales of F1 2015 weren't strong enough, maybe they're going to test the waters once again? I imagine if F1 2017 is actually reviewed better, it would sell better.

For me, the Racing genre isn't as appealing as some other genres. I tend to prefer Arcade Racing than Tournament Racing.

I already own these Linux racing games: Grid Autosport, Dirt Rally, BlazeRush, Little Racers Street, Dirt Showdown
Also these ones for Windows: GT Legends, GRID, Dirt 3 (bundles and giveaways)

The type of racing game that appeals to me:
Burnout Paradise (PS3), WipeOut Pure (PSP), Burnout Legends (PSP)

If Feral ported F1 2017, I might buy it, but then I probably wouldn't due to lack of time to play a game which isn't high on my list.

F1 2015 was too difficult for me. GRID autosport is the best racing game for me so far.

I will buy F1 2017 only to show support. Maybe it's better then 2015.

Funny how so many people say 'Too many racing games on linux!' Shows how quickly things changed for us, it wasn't that long ago that we had basically no racing games on our platform at all.
Me personally not a great fan of this type of games, and as others already said some Tomb Raider or RPG would be more interesting...maybe it's time to finally bring Dark Souls to linux :D

I don't think there's too many racing games on Linux, if Feral port it I will most likely buy it just to support them, I'm just not a big fan of driving games.

I honestly play at this time only ark survival evolved.
In next future I would so much play Project Cars 2. This would be THE PORT OF THE YEAR

Well, I would wait how it turns out. If it is garbage like F1 2015 then they shouldn't port it. Would be another fail. But I would be interested F1 2016 still :)
mborse Aug 19, 2017
Not interested. Grid, Dirt, are interesting, but i find F1 in general extremely boring, so any F1 game is a no-go for me (at least until the day someone comes out with a historic F1 game covering seasons and cars from the 1950s to the 1990s).

If F1 2017 Linux port means no Linux port of another game, I'd prefer to not get F1. BioShock or RotTR would be much better for me.

I will buy F1 2017 for Linux depending of if I think its something for me based on reviews after the game is out. I really play Dirt Rally a lot but never really got into F1 2015
RichieEB Aug 19, 2017
I'm all for more Linux games, but personally I'm not a big racer and there are a lot of racing games already. I'd rather have them focus on another game, the F1 games have disappointed quite a bit too.
Ripster Aug 19, 2017
As much as I love seeing games come to Linux I can't say I have any interest in this one. I am not big on racing games and Dirt Rally was for me a rare exception where I really enjoyed single player racing. I hope enough others are interested though!
burnall Aug 19, 2017
I would like to play it
micha Aug 19, 2017
What interests me most is whether F1 2017 is 'West Norwood' which vanished from the radar? =)
faceless Aug 19, 2017
If it comes to Linux and if it is a good racing game, I'll buy it.

Of course, If F1 2017 comes to Linux, I will buy it, sure. This game seems to be most complete than F1-2015. F1-2015 is not great, but is not a bad game like a lot of people say here. I love all the racing games, especially the simulators. Someone talked about Assetto Corsa in this thread... this is a real racing simulator, with a lot of DLC's, mods and a extreme Force Feedback support. Feral devs could take an eye on it. Project Cars could be another "bombazo" if it could be ported, and it is more commercial. It has a lot of types of cars, circuits and a good career mode.

As others have said I'd prefer if Feral put their dev effort elsewhere as its not my favorite genre, but I'm a Feral Fanboy so would support them and buy it if it was released. I'm sure I'd enjoy it, particularly if it supported Vulkan and performance was good.
habernir Aug 20, 2017
yes yes yes

please port it to linux.
jsa1983 Aug 20, 2017
I would love F1 2017, so +1 from me.
(I don't have twitter or FB, so I will only post here)
MVinhas Aug 20, 2017
F1 fan here, I can't believe there is actually a chance for this game to be ported to Linux, despite the bad reviews of F1 2015.

I think it's reasonable to give a 2nd chance to F1 franchise because F1 2015 was the worst of the series (imo F1 2013 is still the best).

I would definitely buy it.
vickop Aug 20, 2017
If Feral makes a port of this game, I will definitely be able to remove windows from my partitions. It's the only reason I keep a partition with windows (F1 2016 at this time).

Feral, port it, please.
