I'm always on the lookout for interesting FPS games, because I think Linux still lacks in that department. Luckily, I came across Morphite [Steam, Official Site], will will release next month with Linux support.

About the game

Set in a distant future where humanity has colonized the far reaches of space, Morphite follows the story of Myrah Kale, a young woman whose life takes a sudden turn when a simple mission develops into an epic interstellar journey revealing her mysterious past and relation to a coveted substance called Morphite.

Myrah will voyage to the furthest corners of space and explore uncharted procedurally-generated planets, each with diverse landscapes and teeming with exotic flora and fauna. With the help of a scanner, Myrah will sell biological information for ship, suit and weapon upgrades.

Inside Myrah’s vessel, players will engage in random encounters with real-time space combat, trade with other travelers across the galaxy and navigate outer space with Morphite’s easy-to-use Starmap system.

It features a fully voiced main story, boss battles, real time space combat, random weapons and vehicles to find and loads more. It sounds like it could be extremely interesting, it certainly has a good style going for it.

It will release on the 20th of September, with Linux support. What do you think?

Sounds vaguely like No Man's Sky, albeit with a storyline. The graphics look really nice, I love the minimalist cell shading. Now if I could just pry myself away from Streets of Rogue.

And being on Linux. ;)

Joking aside, it would be nice to have something like this (or this) available on Linux. As Liam pointed out, FPSs are few and far between on Linux.
