Like me, if you've been eagerly waiting The Signal From Tölva [Steam, Official Site] for Linux, you may be in luck sometime soon as it looks like a Linux version is now in progress.

In their news post back in May, right at the bottom they stated:
QuoteThe Mac build: better news! It's almost ready. Looking at Linux to follow...

That's a small something, by itself not massively interesting. It was then mentioned again in another news post from the 18th:
QuoteAnd yes, we'll look at Linux after that! :D

However, let me direct you to this tweet from yesterday which reads:
QuoteGood news: initial #SteamOS build of #Tolva works! Bad news: only at 0.3 FPS. Vague hope: could be duff video drivers.

I've offered my hand at testing, but I do suggest not spamming the developer with offers since they haven't specifically requested any yet. Just sharing as usual for those who wanted an update on the game, but it is exciting news!

About the game
QuoteThe Signal From Tölva is a journey into a wild, weird science fiction landscape, filled with danger and beauty: you must survive terrible hazards, navigate through impossible spaces, and fight an ongoing battle to control this haunted, blighted world. Explore, ponder strange texts, and find tranquillity between the battles. You will make use of a range of powerful tools to overcome your enemies and uncover secrets: hack robots to battle alongside you, equip powerful weapons, and detonate savage defence systems.

Fight, explore, and solve the mystery of The Signal From Tölva!

The Signal From Tölva is a first-person game of exploration and combat, set in a beautiful, hand-crafted, hand-painted sci-fi world.

Excellent. That one has been on my GOG wishlist for quite a while now.

Looks very interesting, I will however personally pass for now, as my graphics card died a few weeks ago, and I am considering a full upgrade, which won't happen very soon. Yet, I wish the best to the developer. 0.3 FPS is certainly not sounding ready for release, but at least it works :P

We love retrospectives on ports, it would be nice to have one.

Yup, instabuy. No idea what the game is about, but it looks like a weird mix of Destiny and Borderlands. I'm buying it immediately if they sort out a Linux release. Pretty exciting!

[EDIT: Just noticed that these are the same guys behind Sir, You are being Hunted, which was a lot of fun.]

It doesn't look like my kind of game, but I do find the title quite interesting as I know what the icelandic word means. Don't look it up until after you play the game though.

Excellent! This is one of those games I've been pretty interested in but had to stop reading and watching videos about out of just too much disappointment in not getting to play it; looks like I will get that chance soon after all! :D

Must buy for me when it hits.

I've had this on my wishlist since I heard of it. This is why I don't get stressed when games don't come to Linux right away and why I don't buy Windows games for a while. If I keep playing my backlog the games will continue to come to me.

I would/will buy this title when the native GNU/Linux version drops.

0.3 FPS? No problem, I'll just get one of those Vega cards, and I am sure it will be just fine.
buenaventura 21 Aug 2017
This is something I've waited for as well, too bad my graphics card probably wont handle it though! But in the future, I will buy this.
lucifertdark 21 Aug 2017
It's by the people who gave us Sir You Are Being Hunted, I'm in when they port it to Linux.
jgacas 21 Aug 2017
I am in for it, looks great!

For steam controller users there is a really nice video about how to configure and play the game with it, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_cUK2Rqkqw .

This is a definite buy for me - once released of course.

I loved 'Sir You Are Being Hunted' and had a lot of value from that one. Plus, Big Robot were superb with the Linux build all through Kickstarter (SYABH) and it worked perfectly on a par with the Windows version right from the start.

Voodoo II or GTFO!

Looks interesting. I miss the the old days in Planetside 2, so I'll pretend I'm back :P
