Without continued support from our amazing readers, we wouldn’t be able to continue doing what we do!

Please consider supporting me on Patreon, so that I can continue speaking to developers every day, posting news, reviews, editorials, making videos, previewing new games before they’re released and so on.

Sadly, this month we've had the most cancellations in a single month since we started. Not a large amount in comparison to our total though, thankfully. I'm hoping that trend doesn't continue, but of course everyone's situation changes so there's never any hard feelings! Thank you to all of you past, present and future supporters!

If you’re curious about how we’re doing as a site, I built this page for you to see what we’ve been up to recently.

I have plenty of plans for the website to keep improving it and plenty of articles in progress. I’m hopeful to continue on for many years to come!

Also, if you didn’t see from the recent Site Update post, we now have a daily article mailing list. If you sign up, you will get an email once a day with what we’ve posted! I’ve just adjusted that so it will ask for confirmation when you hit the unsubscribe link, since we don’t want accidental unsubscribes.

If you can’t do Patreon, we also have Paypal.

Thank you!

Ps. If you have feature ideas you think would really help, let me know any time. Email inbox is always open! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

There is no need to go into so much detail. And I understand what you are trying to say however, a small dip in $ can be a huge dip in £.

*cough* tis other way round *cough :P
Well that depends on exchange rates. The way the pound was going made the patreon worth more ;)

Quoting: liamdaweIndeed Patreon can be started and stopped any time!
But can you do a one-time payment without even starting the recurring option? I prefer one-time donations, and I don't want to remember that I should cancel the payment next month. That's why I welcome PayPal. If Patreon supports true one-time payments ("remember to cancel next month" doesn't count), you should definitely mention that on the Patreon page. The recurring requirement might put many people off.

Nah, your best bet is Paypal for that!

Thanks :)

A few dollars a month to support the best linux gaming coverage out there...I suppose I can make that work :)

Yeah same as many, don't like subscription systems except for my Internet and Rego bill. It's scary how many things want you to subscribe to an ongoing payment plan, in saying that if my mini business yields progress I'll look at doing patreon in the future (like next year probably). PayPal is a good option, custom Tshirts, computer gear, coffee/beer bugs etc would certainly help.

To be honest Liam, posts like this make me want to cancel my Patreon support.

I posted this comment on the recent icculus thread but it got pretty lost amongst all the wishlisting. I though I would repost here as its more on topic:

I got more interested in the patreon model a few weeks back when I read these articles [1] [2]. Consequently I went looking for people I though worth funding, heres what I found:

Open Source Gaming:

* https://www.patreon.com/onpon4 (1,622nd

Open Source

* https://www.patreon.com/joeyh (4,226th *

I'm sure I missed some, if you know of other interesting people or projects in the open source gaming space please post them in the comments. I'll update this comment with any additions.

Oh and I just discovered graphtreon in the comments here, looks like icculus's post has given him a good boost, quite a lot of it because of the gamingonlinux article no doubt.

* If you don't know who Joey Hess is he was a Debian developer for a long time, SteamOS stands directly on his shoulders. These days he works on useful stuff like git-annex which can be useful for game developers wanting to store large files in git.

These occasional reminders are just fine, don't worry about it. Well okay, of course you'd worry as it's your livelihood we're talking about.

If I can make one suggestion though, I'd keep the doom-and-gloom in check. Positive messages work better I think than emphasis on the negative like cancellations. They're on your mind, but they're not what motivates us to support your work. Remind us of the awesome things you do and plan on doing in the near future. That should be enough.

EDIT: typo

Noted! A very good point and I will be sure to act upon any and all feedback that I can.

Thanks everyone! <3
