Massive respect to the developers of Darkwood [Official Site, Steam, GOG]! They've released a news post about how things have gone for them and inside is a link to an imgur post, containing a little story and a free torrent if you can't afford the game right now.
Here's what they said
Steam lets you refund a game if you haven't played it for more than 2 hours, and as a developer we can see the reason why people refunded it. When we read the explanation from someone who wrote that he needed the refund because he didn't want his parents to be stressed out when seeing the bill at the end of the month... well, it made us feel quite bad.
So we decided to do something about it! If you don't have the money and want to play the game, we have a safe torrent on the Pirate Bay of the latest version of Darkwood (1.0 hotfix 3), completely DRM-free. There's no catch, no added pirate hats for characters or anything like that. We have just one request: if you like Darkwood and want us to continue making games, consider buying it in the future, maybe on a sale, through Steam, GOG or Humble Store. But please, please, don't buy it through any key reselling site. By doing that, you're just feeding the cancer that is leeching off this industry.
Here's the torrent link. However, it's only for the Windows version currently. If you do use that (dual booting?), I urge you to support the developer with a purchase in future, they seem worthy of the support.

IMO those keys should be forcibly invalidated and then G2A will need to provide a new key, this is doable if you pay via paypal because there are big repercussions if they don't deal with it correctly.
I would guess that deep inside you know that you are not doing the right thing here.
I can't blame the studio's if they are turning their back on Linux if the market is already that small but people are still feeling the need to use questionable sites just to safe a few bucks. Greed is sad :(

I was considering getting this game when it's on sale on GOG.
Instead I'm going to buy it today, full price.
I prefer to use anonymous pre-paid cards for my games purchases, even if there's no need to. That's why I haven't bought it yet. I have to run to a store first.

Since you mention Paypal, have you considered buying steam wallet codes directly from them? I don't think there's any mark up and it was a great way to give my kids wallet money when they're too young for credit cards.

Pretty sure the people they're targeting with this would probably be on those torrent sites to get a cracked copy. This is a useful, pain-free method of addressing the issue. Well, apart from the fact that the UK blocks torrent sites, I suppose. VPNs for the win.

I've seen this happen a few times with other games. And some of those times they insert some funny thing later in the game to say "Hey, we know you're enjoying your free copy, why not toss us some coin?"
I actually bought this long ago while it was in Early Access. Sadly they don't natively support the Steam Controller, but at least some of the community have already created a mapping that works well under Linux, and it's not a case of broken controller support like 12 is better than 6, or Hero Siege.

Just streamed the Linux version for three hours, no issues so far.
The game is actually scary/tense. I didn't believe it when I read it. There are some jump scares in there, but for the most part it's the atmosphere. I still have next to no clue what is actually going on story-wise. I'm positively surprised by Darkwood.
