The Escapists 2 launches with full Linux support

The Escapists 2 [Steam, Official Site] from Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios is now available with Day-1 Linux support, but it seems quite buggy.

I actually requested a review key before release, with the publisher Team17 telling me they will be sent out after release. I still haven't heard from them today with the release yesterday. I am hoping they don't let us down.

As for the game, many reviews note that there's a lot of bugs, which is a little concerning. All the most helpful user reviews on Steam right now are negative. While some games get review-bombed for stupid reasons, this seems more genuine from a bad release. Hopefully the issues will be ironed out quickly. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Most of the issues appear to be with the multiplayer aspect, which I ignored.

I did encounter a fair few glitches, but they were all due to a single problem. The game makes quite a mess when you play on ultrawide. Had to switch back to windowed. I also had some key detection problems (not responding to the E key during the tutorial). Otherwise my short play session was fine.

I did notice that you can't store items in the toilet any more. :P

I like the diversity they added (at least from the trailer)

We have the standard prisons but also the Siberian work camp and the alien space prison.
