Vikings - Wolves of Midgard [Steam] suffered a small delay in the Linux version, but this hack and slash RPG is now officially available for Linux.

Note: GOG doesn't currently have the Linux version, only Steam right now.

We've had to wait a couple months for the Linux version, but I'm pleased to see it released so that we don't have to chase them down for information. Kalypso Media are proving again they're a pretty good publisher of Linux games, which makes me happy.

The game has mixed reviews overall, however, I will reserve my own thoughts until I can play it. I've now put in a key request, so hopefully we will be able to cover it properly soon.

About the game
QuoteThe Action RPG Vikings – Wolves of Midgard takes you to the Shores of Midgard, a world based upon the mythology and history of the Vikings, but with a fantasy twist. Battle the fearsome Jotan, hordes of terrifying undead monstrosities and the beasts of Ragnarok, as you strive to survive the growing cold that threatens to end all life, forever. Master mighty weapons, including sword and shield, two-handed hammers, dual-wielded axes and swift bows. Earn blood in battle to offer in tribute to the Gods in order to acquire and enhance devastating Spell Powers and other special unlockables.

The reviews are a bit worrying because they are mostly about gameplay problems. And the price is a bit high to just give it a go.

According to the Steam comments the Linux version is missing an executable.

Will probably pick it up when all the problems have been fixed and it gets a price drop...

hopefully we get to see a full review on this one, i've been really interested but the various mixed reviews and issues seem to make me wonder if it's worth it right now. I'm glad Kalypso Media is putting forth the effort though. might pick it up next week if some of the major issues are worked out.

Game look very nice but this reviews... I found few opinions. One is about poor performande, dude with i7 6800k 4,5 GHz with GTX1080 on Windows have only 60-70 FPS and on little worse hardware FPS droping even below 30 FPS... So I need to know what this game performing on Linux. Next opinion is about boring locations and gameplay. Next is about price. 44,99€ is too expensive for this games from few reviews I see that this game should cost about half this price, maybe 19€ and all should be fine but for 45€? Too much.

Still looking for a native Linux "Diablo-killer". Games like Torchlight 2 and Victor Vran are good in their own way, but they lack that unidentifiable "something" which Diablo 3 has that keeps me playing long after I should have gone to bed.

There's a demo, but it seems it's only available for Windows.

So far the games ruined by the lack of Galaxy were not in my best interest, this one however is, so hopefully it will make it to GOG.

Looks like there is a flash-sale on gamesplanet.com going on right now. There you can grab it within the next ~23h for about £14.99 or 16,99€.
