Vikings - Wolves of Midgard [Steam] suffered a small delay in the Linux version, but this hack and slash RPG is now officially available for Linux.

Note: GOG doesn't currently have the Linux version, only Steam right now.

We've had to wait a couple months for the Linux version, but I'm pleased to see it released so that we don't have to chase them down for information. Kalypso Media are proving again they're a pretty good publisher of Linux games, which makes me happy.

The game has mixed reviews overall, however, I will reserve my own thoughts until I can play it. I've now put in a key request, so hopefully we will be able to cover it properly soon.

About the game
QuoteThe Action RPG Vikings – Wolves of Midgard takes you to the Shores of Midgard, a world based upon the mythology and history of the Vikings, but with a fantasy twist. Battle the fearsome Jotan, hordes of terrifying undead monstrosities and the beasts of Ragnarok, as you strive to survive the growing cold that threatens to end all life, forever. Master mighty weapons, including sword and shield, two-handed hammers, dual-wielded axes and swift bows. Earn blood in battle to offer in tribute to the Gods in order to acquire and enhance devastating Spell Powers and other special unlockables.

Did they say anything about Linux version on GOG, or it's another one of the Galaxy victims?

Quoting: Mountain ManThere's a demo, but it seems it's only available for Windows.
It means there is no demo. :)

Quoting: Mountain ManStill looking for a native Linux "Diablo-killer". Games like Torchlight 2 and Victor Vran are good in their own way, but they lack that unidentifiable "something" which Diablo 3 has that keeps me playing long after I should have gone to bed.

Come on, Diablo III brought pretty much nothing to the genre aside from some unnecessary MMO mechanics. On the other hand, Torchlight series had plenty of nice ideas such as fighter/inventory/carrier pet, weapon enhancements as well Steam Workshop.

Diablo 3 is action rpg with looting frenzy mechanics. Modable skills. And a good company. Blizzard
Still many diablo fan players left it.

I was waiting vikings. Bought yesterday. It has some issues with 64 bit, executables mising. But i had played once before in windows.
Game specs as follows
hardcore combat mechanics.
Crafting system.
Boss fights.
Bonus missions for every completed level.
Nordic theme.
Interactive world. Where we can smash cut throw etc.
Cross-multiplayer
Game+ mode after finishing game.
Also i have to mention that developers are willing to improve game and hard-working.

Does that basically mean the game is not playable on Linux at all?..
