Vikings - Wolves of Midgard [Steam] suffered a small delay in the Linux version, but this hack and slash RPG is now officially available for Linux.
Note: GOG doesn't currently have the Linux version, only Steam right now.
We've had to wait a couple months for the Linux version, but I'm pleased to see it released so that we don't have to chase them down for information. Kalypso Media are proving again they're a pretty good publisher of Linux games, which makes me happy.
The game has mixed reviews overall, however, I will reserve my own thoughts until I can play it. I've now put in a key request, so hopefully we will be able to cover it properly soon.

Come on, Diablo III brought pretty much nothing to the genre aside from some unnecessary MMO mechanics. On the other hand, Torchlight series had plenty of nice ideas such as fighter/inventory/carrier pet, weapon enhancements as well Steam Workshop.
It brought a lot more then that. The skill and character progression system in particular is a game changer. Also companions with their own gear and skillset who fight by your side. And the biggest: a nearly infinite variety of viable character builds.
In short, Diablo 3 is a lot more innovative than it gets credit for. But most importantly, it's just plain fun.

Still many diablo fan players left it.
And many more stayed. It is, in fact, one of Blizzard's most successful games to date. There's a reason they're still actively developing it and releasing paid content 5-years after release.

I just installed the game, but Steam considered all the packages to be only 150MB which happened to be only artwork and mp3 soundtrack files... and when launching the game it says of course it's missing the executable.

That's not really an option.
It runs pretty good in the last several wine staging versions, so it's as much of an option as D3.

For someone who played Diablo 2 a lot, there is no game to replace it currently. Ofc you'll find some of them with nice ideas like torchlight, poe or grimdawn, but in the end there's always something lacking.
Diablo 2 had an atmosphere that kept you playing it
Fights vs monsters were intense, it wasn't a beat them all and required you to think twice when going somewhere
The difficulty when reaching nightmare/hell was a thing, forcing you to go back, do some runs for better stuff
The quality of the drops and the diversity in the statistics of your items made it amazingly well balanced and funny. Drop rates in general was a bit too low, but it was still very enjoyable.
PVP was fun
Runs were always cool when done with friends
Community was very nice and welcoming
Trading was a pain in the ass, but was something I enjoyed doing a lot, and forced people to play together
To improve your characters you actually had to run and trade and meet new people, make some friends that can help you building your hero, trade, offer you help...
Rushing mates was funny to do
The trist-run to Baal-run during a saturday afternoon with a friend were one of the best thing I have done when I was younger, cause really entertaining and funny.
Nowadays games are too easy, choices are too easy to make, reaching highest difficulty is more a question of time than skill... I think you guys should stop searching. Game industry have moved on, games have other focuses. Diablo 2 was great because players were free to do what they want. Not a lot of games permits you that now.

Oooooo! I'd been eagerly awaiting this before it became a "Linux Later" title, and I pushed it from my mind. Now that it's almost mostly sort of available on Linux, I'm excited again!!
