Still haven't picked up a Steam Controller or Steam Link? This latest sale might tempt you to do so as they're cheap. Note: These are not affiliate links, just highlighting a good deal.
You can buy them as a bundle, with 55% off for £35.98 which is pretty fantastic.
Separately, you can by the Steam Controller with 30% off for £27.99 and also the Steam Link, with 70% off for £11.99.
I will likely never find a use for the Steam Link in my house right now, since I have a PC hooked up to my TV. The Steam Controller however has uses that never end. Great for the majority of games I've played with it, not all mind you, but most. It also doubles up as the remote for my TV PC using SC Controller and it works so nicely.

Quoting: Darkdisorder78Quoting: monsieursauceWhat about Steam machines ? I cannot find a purchase page on Dell's Alienware website. I would have rather bought one Steam machine than a controller only. Why do people think the Steam Machines aren't being sold anymore? Where are you ? These are some links to the Alienware Steam Machine R2. Might be available in the US for now.

Interesting. I can not find the steam machines anymore on the danish alienware and dell sites. And when I go from the Steam shop where it still is listed I get to the link http://www.dell.com/dk/p/alienware-steam-r2-console/pd.aspx where it says the product is no longer available. It is possible to change the country code to de, se, en-uk and so on for different european sites and they all say the product is no longer available.
Last time I looked maybe 2-3 months ago it still was available

Quoting: RafiLinuxQuoting: Darkdisorder78Yea sorry that doesn't work. It doesn't work in Linux outside of left for dead 2.
Nah. My brother is on Linux and Linux only and he only has Steam Controllers. He plays all of his games from CS:GO to Ballistic Overkill to L4D 2 with that controller. The only issue he had was that he wanted more violent vibrations and he fixed that with SC add-on.
The only game I've seen that 100% doesn't work with the Steam Controller and probably never will is Hero Siege. But I have seen quite a few other games that use some weird tweaked engine that only will only use an xbox360 controller. Hero Siege on Linux doesn't even work with that though, since it just doesn't have controller support there... now in theory you should still be able to create a config through big picture mode, but I haven't tried that yet.
But for those that claim they can't get the Steam Controller to work in ANYTHING, they're doing it wrong...

Quoting: liamdaweSo you are saying that the Steam Controller vibrates in Ubuntu 17.04 but not in Steam OS which is based on Debain? Valve once again doesn't know how to market to console players.Quoting: Darkdisorder78Yea sorry that doesn't work. It doesn't work in Linux outside of left for dead 2.Then perhaps you're not setting something up correctly for it, or it's a distro-specific issue.
Here's where you adjust the haptic feedback:
Works without issues for me, on Ubuntu 17.04, always has for as long as I've had it.

Quoting: Darkdisorder78Well now I might get what you mean a little more. So Vibration based on in game actions, rather than the general Haptic feedback?Quoting: liamdaweSo you are saying that the Steam Controller vibrates in Ubuntu 17.04 but not in Steam OS which is based on Debain? Quoting: liamdaweYea wasn't steam OS marketed to console players? Yea I was talking about haptic feedback. That's a big feature to forget to add. Plus it works in left for dead 2 which is so silly.Quoting: Darkdisorder78Well now I might get what you mean a little more. Haptic feedback (when you get a small vibration when you touch the pads) works perfectly fine on my Debian and Arch installs. Vibrations for when you are hit in a video game is an 'experimental' feature you have to turn on per game or in a global setting I found one day.

Vibration based on actions is another story. As the user above me said.

Quoting: liamdaweYea I don't understand how? I read that Steam OS doesn't support rumble in the Steam controller. I'm taking about vibration you feel when playing games like Saints Row IV. Quoting: ImFromMostonI have a steam controller but I would not recommend it to anybody. I have given up on it as the support is lacking, in fact its a joke. I wanted to use the controller on the desktop for web browsing etc but as soon as I bring up the keyboard interface and type the first letter it freezes and its been like this since launch.
This is what irks me about valve. they seems to throw a half finished product out there then move on to the next thing such as supporting ps4 pads... VALVE, AT LEAST GET YOUR OWN F***ING PAD FULLY FUNCTIONAL BEFORE STARTING WORK ON SUPPORTING SOMEONE ELSE'S CONTROLLER. :><:
I've got to disagree on this one. I had one issue right when I got it last year, but that was just a firmware update that I believe impacted all OS. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing.
I wish I would have had a controller like this as a kid! The build quality is amazing, it feels great to play, and it can be infinitely customized.
I don't know what else I would ask for in a controller at this price ($58.99, Amazon, free shipping) or double this price. To me, it's apparent that a lot of work went into the design, form, and function to produce a controller that works with (almost?) every game I've ever thrown at it. /rant :P

Dude, come on. Multiple people have said (and I'll ++1) that haptic feedback just works. Not trying to be sarcastic here, but sometimes you just have to dig in yourself instead of reading into all the negative bias that unfortunately creeps into many gaming discussions. If I had a TV show on Discovery, I'd say this myth is busted.
I meant to tag someone else.. but I already feel like this reply is a bit too long. Regarding the shipping - see the comment above regarding Amazon. That's where I got mine, and it's still sold by Valve, just a different distribution channel.
