Well now, it's been quite some time since I asked a direct question to my readers. Here we are once again, as I open up the floor to you.

What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think about it?

Personally, I've been testing out Sudden Strike 4 which releases with day-1 Linux support tomorrow. I'm going to be livestreaming a preview of it in about 10 minutes on our Twitch channel. So far, so good and I will have more thorough thoughts on it at release! Remember to keep an eye on the sidebar, as it list the next livestream and this page where you can see our schedule.

I also decided to dive in at the deep end with The Long Dark story mode, but I have to say so far it seems quite disappointing. The story feels a little boring and some of the mechanics have been annoying me quite a lot. I've lost a few campfires that I desperately needed trying to go to the pause menu quickly, but instead it just stops making my campfire — annoying. I will have more thoughts to share when I've finished the first episode, the sandbox mode is great though.

Also, a shout out to the Putt-Putt games, as my son recently completed Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo in an hour, with very little help. He loves it, so if you have kids and they might like short adventure games I highly recommend the series. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Stasis- Still a few glitches remaining on the Linux build, but nothing that could keep me from finishing it. The atmosphere in this game is awesome!
Brutal Legend - A bit of an odd game. But if the music is your thing, just driving around doing nothing is pretty good already. :D
Deponia Doomsday - Must. Finish. Deponia!
The Long Dark - I've been playing the story mode. Initially I didn't really like it. But once it lets go of the leash, it feels much more like The Long Dark again. So far, partly into episode 2, the amount of story is not actually that big.

I was playing Albion Online but, much like during the beta, I have given up on the game after a couple of weeks. There's just no payoff to the grind, it's just more grind. There's no story whatsoever and the combat, while not terrible, is nowhere near fun enough to motivate me to keep grinding on its own.

I am currently playing Pyre. It's fantastic. One of the most unique and enjoyable "combat" systems I have played in a RPG in a long time, plus the characters and presentation are all top-notch.

Edit: I hate typing on phones so much.

Quoting: EikeLovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Yes, it does look strange, but it's big fun.

Cheers! That looks familiar: I'm sure I'd meant to check it out. Looks perfect :)

Xcom 2 - working my way through the Long War mod. Can't wait for the new revision.

Civ VI - I've had this since launch day but have never finished a campaign. I usually go for Civ V when I need a Civ fix - still not feeling it.

Dirt Rally - working through it... slowly... long learning curve but I'm starting to get it.

Xonotic - Freeware - Been introducing the game to my job, now I have co-workers and clients rocking it daily during lunch and rec time. I am setting up a 5 on 5 LAN game for the last 2 weekends of August @ my place. Been playing online with a few friends and it's good to see this game get some more love.

Awesomenauts - Steam - Giving this game a shot again since it went F2P. I got the original game for free awhile back from a Steam friend. It was fun but they stopped playing and then I stopped playing. Not sure why but the game seems like a lot more fun now. I have it setup on all of my HTPCs with Steam controllers @ the ready. I am unable to get the split/screen feature working, though.

The King of Fighters 2002 - Humble Bundle - Been playing this one daily. A little in the morning and some more @ night. I recently attend 3 retro tourney's in NYC and now this game is back on my daily play list. I have a Friday Rival match every week with a co-worker and it's been a blast to rediscover my combos and tricks with Ryo, Terry and Iori.

I recently finished Bioshock Infinite which was mildly disappointing, and have now been "playing" with the Godot engine mostly. Once in a while I get around to playing Saints Row co-op and KotOR 2, which are great.
I can't wait till Consortium 2 and Pillars 2 come out.

Ninja Pizza Girl runner/platformer with cheesy (sic) story and simple graphics. Really well executed though; it's been my go-to game the past few months when I just want a quick gaming fix.

Battleblock Theater Classical platformer that plays very well and has kept my interest so far at least.

I'm just playing Pyre hoping to finish story mode. Got to parts of the endgame so curios how the story gets wrapped up.

Also , I always squeeze some time in for Hearts of Iron 4. Between mods and official content and all the branching paths that come with each , it is great fun. I always end up playing a lot longer than I initially intended.
