Well now, it's been quite some time since I asked a direct question to my readers. Here we are once again, as I open up the floor to you.
What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think about it?
Personally, I've been testing out Sudden Strike 4 which releases with day-1 Linux support tomorrow. I'm going to be livestreaming a preview of it in about 10 minutes on our Twitch channel. So far, so good and I will have more thorough thoughts on it at release! Remember to keep an eye on the sidebar, as it list the next livestream and this page where you can see our schedule.
I also decided to dive in at the deep end with The Long Dark story mode, but I have to say so far it seems quite disappointing. The story feels a little boring and some of the mechanics have been annoying me quite a lot. I've lost a few campfires that I desperately needed trying to go to the pause menu quickly, but instead it just stops making my campfire — annoying. I will have more thoughts to share when I've finished the first episode, the sandbox mode is great though.
Also, a shout out to the Putt-Putt games, as my son recently completed Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo in an hour, with very little help. He loves it, so if you have kids and they might like short adventure games I highly recommend the series.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
I don't see a lot of people playing Dawn of War III. If anyone wants to join a multiplayer game with me, I'd be glad.

Paradigm: This is a gem. Quality point and click adventure set in a post-apocalyptic, retro-futuristic wasteland. I love the humour and art style.
The Darkside Detective: A more casual pixel-art point and click adventure with 6 short cases.
AdVenture Capitalist: Clicker game. I've finished all planets but I still play the events.
Also recently played: Kingdoms & Castles, Operation Sheep Defense, Full Throttle remastered.

Ascendant: Very good, similar to Rogue Legacy but more challenging.
MagicalTimeBean (Soulcaster and Escape Goat series): Ian Stocker's games are charming and with a unique gameplay. I look forward to Soulcaster III.
X2 The Threat: I was planning just to have a quick look at the game before starting with X3 Terran Conflict, but now I can't stop playing.
Doom 3 BFG Edition: Ho, ho, ho.

Long time lurker,
had to register sine no one mentoined this little great game I'm playing:
Age of Wonders 3 man that game is awesome, imo much more pleasant than civ while having similar vibe (and of course heroes inspiration too), much less "microing"/tideousness. of course there are things that are missing. Still was sad that no one mentioned this.
On the upside someone mentioned old doom, well gzdoom, this past year discovered doom modding comunity and man it is going strong. "old" doom - best doom :) mods maps, random map generator has all. People even manage to create "heroes"-like games, shootemups and other stuff in these open source doom engines... some people are just crazy in a good way.

Yeah, the Loki installer wasn't quite working how it should of been so I went with the Magma installer which actually detected the Myth CD and installed from it. I did get the original Loathing and Fear editors running from the CD though, which I was very surprised when they actually started up.

Been playing a lot of Ticket to Ride lately. Solid board game, really nice for a side activity to YouTube,a good way to waste 5-10 minutes. Linux port mostly works well, but some times the menu crashes to desktop, and at other times the game keeps running in the background after being closed. Both issues are trivial.
Also powered through Full Throttle, still a great adventure game. On a side note, that was my first LucasArts adventure game, back on Dad's first Mac. Whether I'm better at it now or just remember stuff from my childhood, it now took a few hours to get through what took me a summer back then.
