Announced on Ethan Lee's Patreon, this is the first Unity title to be ported by Mr Lee, who usually focuses on porting XNA games using his FNA project.

Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator is a game where you play as a Dad and your goal is to meet and romance other hot Dads. You and your daughter have just moved into the sleepy seaside town of Maple Bay only to discover that everyone in your neighborhood is a single, dateable Dad! Will you go out with Teacher Dad? Goth Dad? Bad Dad? Or any of the other cool Dads in this game? With minigames, sidequests, and a variety of paths and endings, Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator is this year's most anticipated Dad-based game.
I think my favourite listed feature is this "So many Dad puns. Like, to the point where it made us all uncomfortable" — hah!
It released for Windows in July, so it hasn't actually been out all that long. Since release, it seems to have gained rather positive reviews.
It's a dating simulator so it's not my type of thing, but hopefully some of you might appreciate this now being on Linux.

The "scene" this game belongs to is actually quite old. One of the reasons Dating Sims and Visual Novels are getting more attention is that more of these games are on Steam now. The Ren'py engine also helped to put these genres on the map for Linux. Ren'py engine games were capable of being easily ported to Linux, Mac and Windows from the first public build because of the Python 2 base.
There are hundreds of these games out there already, free to download from repositories like https://games.renpy.org. For a long time these games weren't thought of as potentially profitable, even amongst the fans and creators, but once a few people found success with selling their games, it took off from there.
... And I miss late 80s/90s PC gaming. They were some of the best. Thank goodness for Wine, DOSBOX and SCUMMVM!

Anyhow, she was super excited to see this get ported, and bought it as soon as she found out. Happy to report it seems to play flawlessly for her so far on that old machine - and yes, there are a couple hidden minigame portions that are 3D rendered, despite the game being mostly a 2D visual novel.
One reason this game's got a lot of press is because it's apparently a pet project of the Game Grumps, so if you know their type of humour, that's what you can expect here. From the bits and pieces I've seen looking over her shoulder, it genuinely does seem to be a sincere, light-hearted take. With lots of dad humour.
