That's right, Rise to Ruins [Steam, Official Site, itch.io] now has doggos, what everyone these days seems to be calling dogs for some reason.
To access the newly released "InDev 28 Unstable 1", you need to opt-in on Steam using the Beta section of the game properties. Select the Unstable beta branch and you will have access to it.
Unlike the various other "mobs" in the game, the doggo is friendly. It's rare, but when they appear they will make their way into your village. They might interact with villagers and become domesticated with an owner, a name and become part of your little village.
They sound pretty sweet, since they will help out around your village too, as they follow their owner around and sometimes help with tasks like harvesting wild food or taking resources to buildings.
I didn't manage to get any when testing out a normal game, but thanks to the Sandbox mode I was able to spawn in a few ridiculous amount:
For those wondering about the difficulty of the game, it does now feature various game modes. This wasn't in the last time I checked, but I've seen previous complaints about it either being too easy or too hard. Now there's pre-defined game modes, a sandbox mode where you can change all sorts of things during the actual game and you can also set up a custom mode tweaking the options you want to play with. I imagine now it will appeal to a lot more people thanks to this, good stuff!
Rise to Ruins also performs extremely well now, after the developer did a bunch of optimizations in the past few updates it's an absolute pleasure to play. Even after I spawned in hundreds of doggos, monsters and all sorts of things in the Sandbox mode to mess about, it didn't falter.
As usual, there's plenty of bug fixes and optimizations. See the full changelog here.
This looks like a pretty neat game.
