Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D. [Steam] is a mod from former Valve worker Cayle George, it's a short prison escape and it should be coming to Linux.

Mr George actually worked on Team Fortress 2 and Portal 2 during his time at Valve, but he's also worked for other notable developers on titles like Horizon Zero Dawn.

About the mod:

Future Games Select and Cayle George bring you a prison escape like no other!

Featuring explosive action and a soundtrack from outrun music legend Lazerhawk,
Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D. is a return to the golden age of First Person Shooters.

Break from captivity, conquer the facility and discover the secrets of Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D.!

It sounds like it could be pretty fun, especially since this is from a former Valve developer. Always interesting to see new content based in the Half-Life universe come out.

Since it's a free mod, it does need you to actually own a copy of Half-Life. Currently, it's Windows only, but speaking on the Steam forum, the developer said this rather recently (17th Sept):

We will try and add Linux and Mac support as quickly as possible. It most likely will not be available at launch, but it is set up, as goldsource supports those platforms.

If anyone is interested in being a tester for Linux or Mac, please respond and I will try and contact you when we have a build ready to test in the future.

Thanks :)

Might be worth letting them know in the post if you're interested.

The trailer's music makes my ears bleed with the idiotic compressor delay effect that plagues most modern dance/pop music. I mean it makes me feel physically ill. Legend or not, if I play this game it will be with the music disabled.

Sorry, rant done.

I am terribly sorry, but your comment is the "most stupid" I ever read on this website.

First, this game is free.

Second, graphics aren't THAT important in a game.

Third, it seems you don't know what a mod is.

Fourth, the tone is so arrogant it's just out of this world.

So, I'm sorry but I've got to say you've got it all wrong, definitely.

It's not Half Life 3, but surely I'll play, it looks awesome too!

This game looks AMAZING.

It feels very retro and reminds me of Duke Nukem 3D

Excellent remake of Caged from Philip website I read and it is now remake release. Nice architecture. But I have opened source of Caged and It has many brushworks why does developer not create many models. I thought they don't know how do they make models.

I tell you about my own output or aircon like Caged.

Example picture

PS Sorry my texture is made by KHED because I feel look of same brush-liked look. I thought model-drawing is really easy and it makes own model under Half-Life. Like Cry of Fear or any model-richest mods.

Thanks for sharing! PS: Please do not share with Facebook! Because I disallow facebook. Only Google, Twitter and Steam Community are allowed. Thanks!

Boffo! When I first saw this was coming out I felt disappointed when I saw the lone Windows logo. I see I'll have to go back and wishlist it after all. This is great news.
