The threaded GL dispatch code to speed up some Linux games currently uses a Whitelist and now more games have been added.

Entering the public Mesa-git mailing list today were these games:

  • Dreamfall Chapters
  • Hitman
  • Renowned Explorers: International Society
  • Saints Row: The Third
  • Sid Meier's: Civilization Beyond Earth

These games should now perform better in Mesa-git (the latest development code), for the Mesa 17.3 release.

The fun thing is, it seems people are continuing to use our Wiki page, as noted on the Mesa-dev mailing list entry. I'm pleased that I can continue to offer Wiki space for useful things like that for everyone to contribute to.

If you want to test games to see if their performance increased with the threaded code, then run this as a launch option for each game in Steam:

mesa_glthread=true %command%

More information is available on our Wiki page.

See the commit here where the entries were accepted into Mesa-git.

This did improve performance in SR3. Not so much for the 4TH.

Ahh, Hitman :-). Yea, that ran a bit crappy here.

For TW2 it worked wonders.
