This is your once a month reminder to make sure your PC information is correct on your user profiles. A fresh batch of statistics is generated on the 1st of each month.

Note: There is a new question about Wine use this month!

You need to be logged in to see when you last updated your PC info!

You can see the statistics any time on this page.

While we don't currently have a drop-off implemented for old/stale data, it will be coming eventually once I'm sure the system for doing it works smoothly. If you want to make sure you're included at any time clicking update without any changes will update the last time you edited them.

The drop-off for old data will be done in months, since people aren't likely to change hardware that often.

Quoting: chancho_zombieI bought an extra GPU for mining and VGA passthrough. There should be an option for adding more than 1 GPU.
You just told us that the GPU isn't for Linux gaming, so why would it be relevant? This data isn't collected for hardware bragging rights. It's supposed to be data on what kind of hardware we penguins run our games on.

May be include type of disk? Total volume?

I get why the Wine question is relevant, but it does look a bit odd next to what is mostly just system and software specifications. It really is more to do with gauging the Linux gaming culture on here, which is a valid thing to want to measure, but kind of opens the survey up to a whole new world of questions. For instance, you might now want to ask what online game stores people have used, or whether they are okay playing games that employ DRM, or even just adding a manual field where people can list what games they have recently played.

If you ever do decide to go down this road though what I would suggest is having these questions listed as a separate "Player info" or similar section on people's profiles rather than just having them bunched in with the rest of the Computer info which is mostly just dry hardware information.

Quoting: liamdaweThanks for the feedback about the Wine question, it is appreciated.

I again agree the adjusted answers still weren't great. The question and answers were still a bit too ambiguous.

I've had a re-think on it and I've adjusted the Wine question to be much more specific. The question is now "When was the last time you used Wine to play a Windows game?" with these options:
  • "In the last month"

  • "In the last three months"

  • "In the last six months"

  • "Over six months ago"

  • "I never use it"

I think that about covers that one, in regards to getting to make sense and be useful.

Additionally, I am also thinking on adding in the question about how many games you play in Wine, as that could be interesting to see too, but that will come later.

I've wiped all previous answers to the Wine question.

Thanks for all your work!

I know that I suggested something similar to what you have done, but I now agree with Philadelphus that the yes/no question about Wine use in the last month is a more succinct question. Most of the survey is really about what we have right now, or have done in the last month, so it would match that much better.

Your current list is clearer than it was originally, but will have much more lag in the monthly statistics since there is overlap in the reporting months.

In the same theme, I would also change the question "Do you dual-boot with a different operating system?" to "Have you dual-booted with a different operating system in the last month?"

I appreciate the feedback again, however they will be staying as they are now. For one, the dual booting question has been there quite some time now.

The survey isn't about in the last month, it's about overall use on your main gaming machine, so I think a few questions that aren't just about the last month is good to get the bigger picture, hope that makes sense :)

Solid feedback, it's easy enough to split the questions up so I will look to that in future :)
