RUINER is reconfirmed for Linux once again

By -

After the stupidly confusing mixed messages about the Linux version of RUINER [Steam, Official Site], the developer has now reconfirmed that its coming to Linux.

Here's what they said:

Hello Linux-lovers,

Your involvement in RUINER community is awesome and heart warming.
The reason why Linux was removed from the store page is that it will be coming a little bit later.

We originally planned to launch RUINER for PC, Mac and Linux at same time, but we faced some technical challenges in the later stage of the development and porting the game to consoles.

As soon as we launch the PC, PS4 and X1 versions, we’ll focus on the remaining platforms. You can expect an update in a couple of weeks.

We’re sorry if we caused confusion with the mixed messages.

To sweeten the waiting time a little, we can reveal that there will be a small surprise coming together with the RUINER Linux version.

Stay tuned!

Yours truly,
RUINERS

It’s really good to get confirmation again, but it does go to show their communication has been a bit pants. It was delayed, then their Twitter team said they had no plans for it, then they asked for posts in support of a Linux version and now it's confirmed again.

I'm excited to try it, but I'm not really amused by the situation here. We've been spun in circles, but hopefully they won't let us down now.

To be honest i was using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but i'm guessing that it could be the newest one (17.10),
my hardware is a Lenovo legion y520 laptop:
i5-7300hq, gtx 1050 4GB, 8GB DDR4

the version of wine is most current right now (2.18-staging)
and i used proprietary nvidia drivers sugested by Ubuntu itself so i guess it was 375.5

Sorry for the delay,
i'm wroking hard and don't have much time for gaming/sitting at computer.
Most recentyly i've reinstalled my Ubuntu to 17.10, and right now i fight with compatybility so if You wait i'll try to record how it works under just installed ubuntu with this hardware.

Cheers

Update 24/10/2017

I've had some free time and first I had to find some tools to record gameplay.
Gameplay with recording sucks so don't judge by the cover without it it works well.
- wine was updated to 2.19
- drivers of nvidia is 384.90
- Ubuntu 17.10
- hardware Lenovo Legion Y520 (specs upwards)
- language of the game : Polish (I have no clue how to change it to English)
- version of Ruiner from GOG.com

Cheers
