Shaolin vs Wutang [Steam], a fighting game that serves as a love letter to classic 70's and 80's Kung Fu films may be on the way to Linux.
Direct Link
The game released into Early Access for Windows in May of last year, then a Steam user asked about a Linux version a few days later. The developer seemed up for it, saying there was a "good chance" of a Linux version happening. Then not much happened until a number of hours ago, when they posted this:
For those of those who want a Linux port can you guys post your specs. Also there seems to be driver issues in general when it comes to Steam Unity and Linux is that something you guys are comfortable and familiar with?
Fighting games like this are another genre we have very little to show for, so I would fully welcome another. Even though this one is in Early Access, it has "Very Positive" user reviews, so it seems like they're doing it justice.
It has single-player and co-op play, so if it does come to Linux it could be a great game to show friends when the pop over for a visit. The game has even licensed music from classic films, for that truly authentic feel!
As always though, I don't suggest posting unless you would actually buy a copy, inflating our numbers doesn't really help developers.
About the game:
Shaolin vs Wutang is a real love letter to classic 70's and 80's Kung Fu cinema. This is a indie passion project that was made by one person who has tremendous passion for, and knowledge of Kung Fu films. It is not my intention to provide the same experience as big budget fighting games. But rather I hope to provide players with a satisfying gaming experience blended with nostalgia and reminiscence of the great Kung Fu films.
Interestingly, I dug a little deeper and it turns out the developer, Jae Lee, also developed the fighting game named "Kings of Kung Fu" which does already support Linux, so it wouldn't be their first Linux game. The two games do seem quite similar, but this new game seems to have better graphics and more content.
With thanks to ismael from our Telegram Group for pointing it out!
Quoting: TcheyKings of Kung Fu was/is an unfinished mediocre product, with many player's inputs not taking care of. I actually feel it was abandoned, and i put its developers on my "avoid list". So, they have to do a really great job to gain my trust again, and from what i seen now, it's not yet.
Man that sucks to hear. Is it a gamepad issue/keyboard issue or across the board?

Last time i played, it was still pretty much an "Alpha" game, playable but in need on polish with animation, collision, precision, etc, but it was labelled as "Release".
So, this new game does feel way too much like a "scam me again".
