What do you get when cross a first-person shooter with a platformer? ICEBOX: Speedgunner [Steam, Official Site] aims to answer that question.

This will be the developer, Game Of Edan's first game, so hopefully it goes well. It sounds like they're working on this by themselves as well, which is impressive.

After the developer announced it on Twitter, I took a look and was sad to see it as Windows only. I reached out to enquire about Linux support and it turns out a Linux version is in their plans:

Win for the initial release. But Mac/Linux will be released a bit later (just want to do more testing - make sure everything tip-top).

Fantastic to know it is coming, especially since they're taking the extra time to make sure the Linux version is polished. They also say they may look to grab some Linux beta testers when the time comes, so we will keep an eye out for that.

What's interesting about the game, is that the campaign can be played two completely different ways. They have the traditional level-based approach and also a single combined level spanning the entire campaign.

About the game:

ICEBOX: Speedgunner is a Run-and-Gun 3D Platformer ...THE CLOCK'S TICKING… Carve an ice-cool path through the Icebox, cutting corners, dodging obstacles and eliminating guards, as you race through it's digital labyrinth to become the Ultimate Speedgunner. Can you “Escape the Icebox” before time runs out?
