Valve never do manage to keep sale dates hidden for long, but for the dates of the three next major sales to slip is a bit embarrassing. Not really much they can do about it though, unless they want to hide the dates from developers for longer, or restrict who is able to actually see them.
Here's the dates:
- Steam Halloween Sale: October 26th 2017 - November 1st 2017
- Steam Autumn Sale: November 22nd 2017 - November 28th 2017
- Steam Winter Sale: December 21st 2017 - January 4th 2018
Each sale will apparently start around 6PM UK time and end around the same time on each date, so keep that in mind.
Looks like Observer from Aspyr Media and Bloober Team, will make it just in time for the Halloween sale! I'm very excited for that one.

I think the TRUE price of a game is the one that the game has on sale...
Take a look at Shadow of Mordor Bundle AKA Shadow of Mordor GOTY... How many months the game has been "on sale" for just 5 U$D?
But, sadly, big publishers raise the base price before joining the steam sales.

That answers a grand total of nothing. Markup exists, I get that. But why would a publisher leak something that, for the period preceding the sale, makes them fewer sales at full price? How does any of this benefit the developers who made the leak?

I kinda wish there was just one annual Steam sale. Man, when that first one landed years ago during a winter that I was trapped in another State due to a snow storm, it was amazing! I was so pumped! I spent over $100 on that sale. But now, there have been so many sales that I have a pile of games I've never played. I'm not very excited to get new games, even if they're brand new, because I don't know when I'd even play them. I'm just now playing through The Witcher 3 for the first time since buying it on Black Friday last year.

I know what you mean. It used to be an event, something to get excited about. But now it's like eh, there's gonna be another one in a couple of months anyway (or what, three before the end of the year?) so what's the big deal? Plus the fact that I have a lot less money for games these days, so I'm less likely to buy something on the spur of the moment anyway.
