The upcoming RPG sequel by developer Obsidian is coming along nicely. The newest trailer shows off a series of locations and situations in the Deadfire Archipelago.

Pillars of Eternity [Official Site] was one of my favorite RPG experiences in recent years despite having its fair share of shortcomings. Its sequel, Deadfire, was initially crowdfunded in January of this year and we’ve occasionally gotten glimpses of how the game is shaping up.
This latest trailer shows off some of the locations that the player will visit while chasing after the god Eothas, who wakes up from his slumber at the beginning of the game and destroys the player’s stronghold. There’s nothing terribly new and exciting in the gameplay itself that I can see from the trailer but I have to say that the various spell effects and abilities look rather gorgeous. The locations and weather effects also look nice and varied, which adds to the thrill of discovering all of the mysteries of the world of Eora.
The first game was pretty to look at, too, but played it safe with locations. The landscape was mostly the archetypal RPG fare: wooded areas, mountains, medieval/renaissance towns and ruins galore. The White March DLC changed things up a little, introducing a snow-covered vastness up north, but the range of locations and color palettes seems to be limited when compared to what has been shown here. As Deadfire involves sailing and exploring various islands, we’ll hopefully get to see all sorts of unique and exotic locations.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire still doesn’t have a release date set, but it’s expected to come out at some point in 2018. As excited as I am to continue exploring Eora, I hope the developer takes their time to get things just right and deliver a polished and fun game.
However, I greatly enjoyed the PoE-gameplay itself, the character classes as well as the expansive world and many unique locations. So, hopefully with this sequel it will be unconditional love on my part. (fingers crossed)
The only thing that really bugs me is the way the real-time combat works. It feels both tedious and chaotic, and most of the time I'd rather just get on with the story and the exploration. It doesn't spoil the game for me, but isn't very enjoyable either.
Quoting: tuubiStill playing through the first one with my wife.Multiplayer Co-op? Or kinda "hotseat"-like? Last time I've checked PoE only supported single player but maybe I've been misinformed.

I used to play point and clicks with my former girlfriend. Just sitting together at the computer and deciding or puzzling together...
Quoting: EikeYeah, that's how we do it. We've enjoyed several classic RPGs and adventure games together over the years. This only works with games you can play at your own pace though.Quoting: crt0megaQuoting: tuubiStill playing through the first one with my wife.Multiplayer Co-op? Or kinda "hotseat"-like? Could you borrow me your wife?
Mine unfortunately isn't into that, and I liked it so much...

Quoting: EikeCould you borrow me your wife?I know this is outrageously selfish of me, but no.
Quoting: EikeMine unfortunately isn't into that, and I liked it so much...Sadly, this isn't common for us either. One or two games per year, maybe. And often she loses interest partway through.

We're still talking about gaming, aren't we? Otherwise this conversation took a really sad turn somewhere...
Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
