About the game:
ATOM RPG is a post-apocalyptic indie game, inspired by classic CRPGs: Fallout, Wasteland, System Shock, Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate and many others.
In 1986 both the Soviet Union and the Western Bloc were destroyed in mutual nuclear bombings. You are one of the survivors of the nuclear Holocaust. Your mission - to explore the wild and wondrous world of the Soviet Wasteland. To earn your place under the sun. And to investigate a shadowy conspiracy, aimed at destroying all that is left of life on Earth.
It has a pretty decent feature list already including turn-based combat inspired by Fallout 1 and 2, random encounters which can be friendly, unfriendly or a mixture of both. Tons of quests and the game as a whole is nonlinear, with many quests having more than one possible solution.
I don't have any thoughts to share on it yet, since I haven't played it since their early demo (which was promising). I have done a basic test to ensure it runs and it does load fine.
Oh, I also bought "Black Mirror" that was released today and that game *does* feel polished & finished. A beautiful and interesting adventure title, tomorrow will be busy ;-) .
Quoting: coesetaLooks like Fallout 1 and 2. Will definitely pick it up. The new Fallout games weren't as satisfying as the classic ones.not really a fallout, more like wasteland. I mean to date, feel empty, no joke or fun (serious and depressive, like a stalker...the russian touch?), very slow pace, no subversive dialogues, etc. Quests are very main stream and boring.
I was very excited so I early tried and funded but I left it aside until more fun, FAllout-spirit will be introduced in! It's a disappointment for me to date.
Both graphics, combat and dialogs reminds me of fallout 1+2. Those games are quite good, and are still among the best games ever made even they graphically look old. I do think I would prefer combat based on the system of fallout tactics or the cancelled van burren over f1+f2 though.
I will definitely buy it, but I am not sure if I will buy it so early, as me playing it now might take away from the experience of the game when it is finished.
