Just a quick tip here! For those who enjoy the classics, Disney's The Lion King & The Jungle Book now have Linux versions on Steam.
It's worth noting, that both games have been on GOG with Linux support since August on last year, so Steam is a little late in getting them. They're most likely the same versions GOG have, which are bundled with DOSBox to allow these classic to live again on modern platforms.
Strangely though, they're actually cheaper on Steam, looks like the GOG prices are a little inflated.
Could be two great games for your kids to play this holiday season, I'm certainly going to let mine have a go and see what he thinks of them.

I'd rather pay a little more for a DRM-free version of a game via GOG.com any day of the week... This is why when I purchase a game, I always look at GOG.com first, then the developer's web site (sometimes they offer DRM-free versions via their website) then Steam.

Quoting: qptain NemoVery nice of them to actually attribute Westwood studios as the developer on Steam.
They made some great classics; doesn't look like they are attributed with much on Steam, though:

I guess they have been gone too long; us old farts are showing our age. :)

Eye of the Beholder series (early dungeon crawler), Dune II (early RTS before Warcraft), Kyrandia series (adventures in the vein of Daedalic), Command & Conquer series (I think most people know these, at least), Blade Runner (I deigned to have Windows 95 on a Jaz drive just to play this - wouldn't infect my hard drive!).
Yet another great studio murdered by EA.

You probably already know that ScummVM has support for the Kyrandia, Eye of the Beholder series and Lands of Lore 1, so you can play those natively on Linux, but there is also support for Blade Runner in development. I don't know how well it's going, but I'm hopeful.

I still have that one in the original shrink wrap - never did get around to trying it (I have soooo many games with nowhere near enough time). Is it really good?

Quoting: PhlebiacIt's a little more fun to me than Eye of the Beholder since it does away with all the D&D stuff and replaces it with very simple straightforward gameplay. Equip weapons, use regenerating mana to cast spells, your healing spell can easily heal characters out of death and so on. It's fun enough if you don't mind a somewhat slow repetitive chill first person labyrinth crawler (most of it takes place out in the woods so I can't really say dungeon crawler). But it's less fun than Lands of Lore 2 which is like a proper action RPG in 3D with an interesting premise and live action characters. Also while it definitely has that Westwood charm it's not quite as distinct and mesmerizing as the Kyrandia games. So I wouldn't say it's really good, but it's nice enough when you want something to just zone out in.Quoting: qptain NemoLands of Lore 1
