Make Sail [Official Site] is a game currently in development that's inspired by the sailing adventures of Wind Waker and the creativity and construction from Kerbal Space Program and it seems it will come to Linux.

Early this morning, the developer teased the idea of a Linux version on Twitter:

It's 4am....is your Linux build working? Yes! (minus some cursor locking issues) #gamedev #indiedev #linux @madewithunity pic.twitter.com/7AIhegL3bZ

As a big fan of construction and exploration games, I'm pretty excited at the very idea of the game. It looks graphically gorgeous too and has some fun inspiration which you can clearly see in the teaser video. Looks like it could be a rather relaxing experience, will be keeping a close eye on this one

Here's how the developer describes it:

Make Sail is about making boats and riding them. It mixes realistic physics with a fantastical setting. Build something beautiful or ridiculous. Then hop from island to island picking up more parts and powers. Unless the wind rips your mast off or a fish eats you. Then you have to rethink your boat.

It's a love letter to the beauties of the sea and journeys of self-reliance.

Make Sail is a mix of the playful sailing adventures of Wind Waker, the immersion of simulators like Sail Away, and the ownership and creativity of construction games like Kerbal Space.

It has a page ready on Steam, if you wish to wishlist it and keep track of it too.

Thanks for the tip NuSuey!

Where are the Mariner, Enola and the Steamers?

This looks very nice. Could be a great game for me if they can flesh it out a little.

Makes me think of.. Raft? That early access game that looked like Rust on a raft that promised Linux support but then reneged on that promise after a couple of releases. Hopefully this developer is a bit more trustworthy.

I want to build the boat from Waterworld. It was a crappy movie, but that sailing boat was by far the best character.

Got my beta key, it already works on linux :) I had my raft break multiple times, and I had it flip around multiple times as well. It is a bit getting used to, and it could do a bit more of a tutorial. Game mechanics are fun though. In make sail you sail between islands in strong winds, in raft there isn't much wind, but there are other dangers, so they are quite different games.
