Are you a fan of old-school brutal FPS games? Apocryph [Steam] is shaping up quite nicely and it seems it will release for Linux.

On Steam, I noticed it was showing up with the SteamOS icon to indicate Linux support in the search list, so I went looking. Turns out another user already asked and this was the response:

[…] Yes, we have it in plans, but I can't 100% promise it'll be released at the same time as PC (might require some additional work). Still, yes, it's Unity so it shouldn't be a big issue to build it for Linux :) […]

About the game:

Apocryph is a FPS set in a brutal dark fantasy world. It takes it's roots in old-school fantasy shooters, so prepare for intense sword-and-sorcery FPS action amidst forgotten castles, evil shrines and decrepit dungeons!

The world of Apocryph is a grim, violent place, harboring magic, dark rituals and dangers around every corner. Wherever you go you'll be facing unrelenting monsters, traps and locked passages, and can only depend on yourself and your equipment to survive the trials.

I think it looks pretty exciting, so it's really pleasing to know it's planned for Linux. What I especially like is that this isn't another shooter with randomly generated levels, it's hand-crafted. It will include 9 different weapons, each having an alternate fire mode, melee weapons, spells and more. For those, like me, who like things brutal it includes a "sophisticated gore system"—awesome!

If you would you purchase it, feel free to throw your support in this linked forum post.

I was about to post something similar. I hate that attitude. It's what gave Unity such a bad reputation amongst us in the first place.

Not another randomly-generated-bs-simulator? This stinks of Heretic and even Hexen to a degree... I love it! Definitely will keep an eye on this one. :P

Wow this game looks really dark. Well I suppose it is Unity so it will need the black screen workaround :P

Yay! Monsters exploding viscera and strawberry jam everywhere! Apocryph looks like a hilarious gore-filled romp through the red remains and ichor covered innards of my enemies. Wishlisted!

Wow. I really hope this comes with good support for Linux. :) The arsenal of weapons looks to be one of the coolest/most unique I've seen in a long time. The glove blaster things in particular look freaking amazing! =D
