Are you a fan of old-school brutal FPS games? Apocryph [Steam] is shaping up quite nicely and it seems it will release for Linux.

On Steam, I noticed it was showing up with the SteamOS icon to indicate Linux support in the search list, so I went looking. Turns out another user already asked and this was the response:

About the game:

Apocryph is a FPS set in a brutal dark fantasy world. It takes it's roots in old-school fantasy shooters, so prepare for intense sword-and-sorcery FPS action amidst forgotten castles, evil shrines and decrepit dungeons!

The world of Apocryph is a grim, violent place, harboring magic, dark rituals and dangers around every corner. Wherever you go you'll be facing unrelenting monsters, traps and locked passages, and can only depend on yourself and your equipment to survive the trials.

I think it looks pretty exciting, so it's really pleasing to know it's planned for Linux. What I especially like is that this isn't another shooter with randomly generated levels, it's hand-crafted. It will include 9 different weapons, each having an alternate fire mode, melee weapons, spells and more. For those, like me, who like things brutal it includes a "sophisticated gore system"—awesome!

And.... DEVS STOP USING PC AS A SYNONYM FOR WINDOWS! Coz it fucking ain't.

I was about to post something similar. I hate that attitude. It's what gave Unity such a bad reputation amongst us in the first place.

To be fair , Unity already had a bad reputation for all the asset flips that infest steam like a never ending tide.

Absolutely, it was a consequence of bad developers on all accounts. But at the time, when low budget indie developers were all we had, it did lead many of us to believe it was the engine fault for all the techincal issues, and not the developers. Cause the issues were so very widespread, it hadn't yet been properly demonstrated what it could do.

As for me personally, it took a good while before I touched anything built on Unity.

Looks to me like a mix of Painkiller and Ziggurat. Certainly interested in this game. I'm a big fan of all the 'twitch' FPS games like DOOM, Quake, Serious Sam, Xonotic, Painkiller, Ziggurat, Unreal Tournament.
