Time for some more awesome deals Linux gamers, as the GOG winter sale is now officially on. You can grab Grim Fandango Remastered free too!

Note: We are a GOG affiliate, sales using our links help us.

They're also enticing you to spend more money this year, once you spend 15 USD you get Hard West for free and when you spend 40 USD you get Master of Orion (the newer one) for free. Annoyingly, GOG don't have the Linux version of Master of Orion, but they do have Hard West for us.

Here's some top picks:

Also remember to check out GOG Connect, to see if you can also add any new games to your GOG collection that you have on Steam. Today it let me add Outlast, Punch Club, LIMBO and Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire to my GOG account. Looks like there's more too, so do take a look.

The GOG winter sale lasts until December 26th at 11pm UTC.

Ps. Do remember to check out our Sales Page, it has Linux games on sale from multiple stores.

I can't figure out how to get the Grim Fandango. Does it only work if you're buying other things? Otherwise the cart button doesn't work directly from the link and the only way to get it added to the cart has it in as costing $14.99

I'm most tempted by Icewind Dale, which has nothing to do with the fact that I'm reading the fourth Legend of Drizzt book right now. ;)

After you log into your GoG account (you must have an account to claim it), you simply go to the front-page of GoG and click on the green redeem button on the Grim Fandango banner (you don't get it from the actual Grim Fandango store page).

Hope that helps. :)

Try clicking on the banner from the front page, I found that tip here: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/7jbvnr/grim_fandango_remastered_giveaway/dr58f48/

I'm a bit surprised LIMBO doesn't seem to have a Linux version on GoG.

Not anywhere close. They aren't currently working on it.

haha I bought it on mobile recently because it was on sale... lemme tell you I'm afraid of buying Planescape, I might never put down my phone...
These infinity engine games were written for mobile they just didn't know it back then.
The shaman patch for IWD is currently in beta. I might need to replay the whole game, again lol.

I'm done with GOG thanks to their Linux Galaxy client farce.

I bought the Blackwell Bundle for 1.29€ (-90%). Not bad for four old-school adventure games with great reviews. I'm actually familiar with the series and Dave Gilbert's work in general from the time I used to hang out at the AGS forums a decade ago, but I haven't gotten around to actually playing any of these. Should provide a few hours of budget fun.

Hey, as long as they keep giving away free stuff I'll cut them some slack. I now have 40 games in my library, and only eight of them are paid for (on GOG itself; there are a few linked from Steam, but not that many), most of those on discount, and none at all since June 2016.* The only reason I opened an account in the first place was to take advantage of their classic Fallout giveaway a while back.

I suppose if it keeps their sales ticking over it must work for them.

*Frustratingly, the last game I bought there was... Grim Fandango Remastered. No joke.

People buy games there, not clients ;)

Perhaps you have noticed, that there are other ways to keep your installations on-track? And updates are not always welcome when changing games too much. So why having some client to manage this? :D

I would just like to point out that you should not pad your cart and buy more just to get Master of Orion... I bought that game and it had a set of developers even less responsive than the idiots at places like EA. They actually did well with voice acting, too bad they didn't get any developers that could program. Here is my old Steam review. (I'll give you a hint, I gave it a thumbs down.) Master of Orion is the absolute worse experience I ever had with a game on Linux/Steam.

That being said... Free game (Grim Fandango), games on sale, factorio is going to 0.16 this week and started selling official t-shirts, and the newcomer (to linux), Oxygen Not Included, is also getting a content update this week.

Sounds like a good week, all in all... except for any hope of personal productivity outside games.

Truth!

I've been playing through Baldur's Gate on my tablet right now, and it's exactly like you say - designed for mobile. I bought all four when they were on sale....

All joint together are probably the best classic style graphic adventure I have tried in quite a few years :)
