Feral Interactive are up to their usual funny business with a brand new Linux port teaser up on their radar.
This is now the second unannounced Linux game they're teasing (here's the other), so I can't wait to see what they have cooked up for us. The last teaser was put up a good few months ago now, so hopefully at least one of them will release soon. They're both in the outermost part of the radar, so they could still be a while away. We don't really know what "Quite Soon" actually means, it could end up being tomorrow, a week or more.
Anyway…here's the latest teaser from their port radar:
"It's just a shot away"
Begin the guessing games! What do you think this be? Exciting! I'm sure these won't be the only titles this year too, let's see if they can truly surprise us.
But how do the 'Garibaldi' and 'Gimme Shelter' clues combined work out?The song starts with the line mentioning storm (and arguably other elements that can be found in the game) and as saclautaa points out Garibaldi, Oregon is literally the location that inspired Arcadia Bay in Life is Strange.
Life is Strange: Before the storm would be an insta-buy. I'm just curious if we would get a chance to recieve the "bonus" Max episode. AFAIK the bonus episode was available only for those who preordered the game. I would preorder it instantly but I don't buy anything until it has an official Linux support. It's actually a very interesting question.
Here's an interesting announcement the developers made on Steam about the bonus episode and upcoming boxed editions. It doesn't directly answer your question but to my mind it does suggest that if we're correct about this game being the game Feral is porting, it's very likely that their release will be synchronized with this release. After all Feral are experienced Linux porting professionals who are porting a game made in friggin' Unity, how hard can it be? They definitely should be able to make that deadline. Which in turn suggests, that this boxed edition might actually end up being multiplatform. Or that there will be some sort of digital equivalent sold by Feral. Or that we might simply never get the bonus episode. :V
I do hope it's eventually resolved and clarified one way or another.

Everyone who owns the Deluxe edition receives the bonus episode.
Bethesda and id Software are beer buddies, we'd probably see Doom and Wolfenstein before arrows start hitting the knee.Just love that verbalism :) Thanks for making me smile ;)
So if we have a storm of war coming couldn't the hero of two worlds not be the players in world of warcrafts upcoming Battle for Azeroth?
No! Forget it! I'm refusing to get my hopes up again. Blizzard will never support Linux, and with how they are actively phasing out DX9 support I suspect they just hate me at this point.
It'd be nice to know if whatever they are, will drop before the end of the year too :D

of hope in there too. Wine is not done yet with dx11 support by far yet and neither is dxvk. So it woukd come in handy if feral did it.
Now, Feral port to Linux only these fucking games...
Bad performance isn't Linux issue. Windows game have bad performance too. In this case:Not against that idea if it helps AAA studios to consider à Linux release.
Me neither; though one thing to keep in mind is that without almost complete feature & performance parity with windoze, Linux-only sales would end up generating quite a bit of resentment. Nowadays, Windows licences are nowhere as expensive as they used to be; if you're a student (at least in the US), they push the damn thing on you for free anyhow (that's how I got my several perpetual [not tied to student status; valid after graduation] licenses); and people getting their windoze pcs pre-built don't even realize that they're paying for the OEM license -- that being the case, being platform-locked *on the same hardware* that could run *the same game* better at little to no extra cost would be perceived as a pretty unfair deal, by someone who isn't already a Linux user/supporter for gaming-independent reasons.
People won't pay for it -> they won't make crappy games -> all win. (well except thouse who do bad games)

That's not what I'm talking about; I'm talking about performance *disparity*, and for *some* titles, it *does* exist.
As to whether this is a serious problem or not: To people who are *already* committed Linux users, it may not be a big deal; but we can't deny that it could be a serious deterrent for people whose #1 concern in building a desktop pc is gaming.
Feral, if you're reading this, please reconsider your PR strategy.
Also, HTC Vive and Fallout 4 VR, with the original game (neither on Mac nor Linux) as a consolation perhaps? If profit is the motive, there's a lot of untapped customers out there for this installment.
If it is a spoiled cracker, than it will be a post apocaliptic survival game.
Yes, yes. Keep the dream alive. What do we have, if not our dreams!

I wish Feral would stop these teases and instead would plainly announce what games they've acquired the rights to port. The sooner, the better. In fact, if possible *before* the windows release date. This will make sure that linux gamers who want to play a particular game can hold off on the purchase until the game is released on linux. I have 4-5 games that I had no inkling would ever get a linux port and bought them on windows. Had I known, I would have waited and given Feral my money.

Yep! Or give a headstart for the guessing game that many seems to like and, a week or 2 later, reveal the solution to the enigma.
