Feral Interactive, the absolute monster when it comes to big Linux game ports is asking what you want to see again.

You all know Feral by now, they've ported HITMAN, F1 2017, Mad Max, Dawn of War III, Life is Strange, XCOM, XCOM 2, DiRT Rally and many more seriously good games to Linux. On top of that, they still have an existing teaser up that they haven't yet announced, all we know is that it's coming to Linux.

On Twitter, they asked this recently:

It’s a New Year full of new possibilities! If you could only have one new game for macOS, Linux or mobile in 2018, which one would it be? And why? We can’t promise that your dreams will come true, but the best answers will star in our email newsletter.

Naturally, Feral lurk in our comments, so feel free to post here as well as I'm sure they will be taking note.

For me personally, I would like a new open-world game that I can travel around and sink plenty of hours into. Something to allow time to fade away and forget about all lifes problems.

So—what do you want Feral to bring to Linux next?

Horizon Zero Dawn.

It's gotten great reviews and the game looks awesome, looks fun and I really want to play it. It's said to have an engaging story and have side quests that feel a lot more interesting and meaningful than those is usual in open world games.

Also, awesome robot animals!

Sorry, I know we were supposed to choose one, but I need to bring up the triple A indie title that I think everyone’s missed.

Hellblade: Sinua's sacrifice

A single player game that if you are to believe Jim Sterling truly elevates "triple A" game making to art.
This game needs to come to Linux. Extremely beautiful and an experience I really want to try.

Not an entirely sensible suggestion. It is Sony's game on Sony's hardware. Maybe if one day it gets released on XBOX, Windows, then it becomes something that could be considered.

Meanwhile, I notice a lot of these suggestions to Feral are for existing games. There are a lot of upcoming games, which people will be wanting on Linux as soon as they're released.

Games such as these:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Monster Hunter: World
Sea of Thieves
A Way Out
Far Cry 5
Metal Gear: Survive
Vampyr
Metro Exodus
Skull and Bones
Call of Cthulhu
Anthem
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord

What hapening with #THEREQUESTINATOR?All spoken games there discussed again here.

The Requestinator is still happening, but it's just a popularity contest - a big wishlist of things people would like to see.

Feral are being more nuanced here:
  • Pick ONE game

  • WHY would you pick that game

Sadly, that's been lost in the enthusiasm and once again, we have most folk shouting big lists of games they'd like to see without any context beyond "I want".

It's just Feral engaging with their fanbase. I wouldn't read too much into this format vs the requestinator, but sometimes the story behind why you want a given game is more interesting than the request itself.

I've just responded to their twitter request, with a single game title and the reasons I think it is a good choice. But, I'd also venture - the list of games I mentioned on GOL earlier - I'd buy all the very high preference and most of the high preference titles, if they came to Linux. There's too little chance that a single title would get past the first step (i.e. the publishers will or won't let Feral port it) so that's why I'm mentioning a few more (on GOL).

Oh please lord almighty!
If upcoming borderlands 3 could have a cross-platform multiplayer :D

As Linux gamers we don't have a lot of games we can play with our "normal" (read: Wintendo)
friends, but borderlands (2 + pre-sequal) is luckily one of them <3

What I'm missing most of my Windows days is the Battlefield franchise, although I guess EA would not let a 3rd party port it.

Otherwise any recent street racing game, either arcarde (like Need for Speed) or simulation (like Asseto Corsa).

This is crazy, I'm one day behind with my RSS feeds and there are 18 pages! Anyway, boring to some but I'm happy with any decent FPS.

Edit: single player of course ;)

Dark Souls III - this game is the reason why i still keep windows on my hard drive.

Just one!!!
This is not fair, Aladdin had three wishes!!! That means we have to outsmart him.

Well I would wish "Lost Vikings" from silicone and synapse. I know that I can run it on dosbox, but native would be so good, so much better. Still is my favorite game ever and it could be the best evolution at the moment for Linux gaming, having another big name supporting us.

Well, I gotta say The Witcher 3... reason being it might be the best game on Earth. Every adult needs to enjoy it.

I would also love for Skyrim to come to Linux. I want to play through it again and play with mods, but I simply don't live in Windows and Skyrim is one of the games I sacrificed.

It would be really great to get one of the battle royale style games, like PUBG or Fortnite or the mod for ArmaIII, ported to Linux. We are lacking in this area.

Hellblade. I hear from friends and others that this is a really well done experience.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands and The Division. I primarily buy Ubisoft games for PS4 because they've given me bad networking troubles on Windows years ago and they rarely show up for Linux.

Dark Souls II. I've already beaten the other two on other platforms and I want to play through this one. I already own it on Steam (Windows) from a Humble Bundle.

Life is Stragne 2, Agents of Mayhem would be great to have I think.

PUBG or Fortnite

I believe there is much to gain for Feral in that genre on Linux. More importantly for me, I believe games with those player concurrent player count leads to more people giving Linux a try. With more people using Linux means more games ported to Linux. Which means I have more games to choose between on my platform. And really, we just want me to play more games, right?

Oh, and I will buy and play PUBG or Fortnite if they were on Linux.

My picks:
Final Fantasy XIV - mostly because I already play this one, but also because it makes sense with an existing Mac port. Plus Squeenix is getting friendlier with Tux these days.

Any or all of the Rocksteady Batman games (Arkham Asylum/City/Knight)

Burnout Paradise

Wolfenstein (Old Blood/New Order) and Wolfenstein II

+1 The Witcher 3 or KillingFloor 2
liju Jan 26, 2018
PUBG.

For all those millions of Chinese players with pirated Windows 7.

At first it sounds funny but if chinese players learn that you don't need a pirated Windows to play PUBG then I see lots of new Linux users and therefore lots of new customers for new Feral Linux ports.

This sounds really interesting. I second that. Feral would just need to make sure the performance of the port is on par or even better (that should make some non-China players consider moving to Linux as well).

Wow, thinking of it is like dreaming.
liju Jan 26, 2018
My wishlist would be some game that I could play multiplayer with friends, or some of the ultimate pc title, which make the best use of hardware, and also have good narration behind it:
Solo:
-Witcher 3
-GTA V
-NieR Automata
-Shadow Warrior 2
-Half Life 3 (just kidding)
-Rayman Origins & Legends
-Prince of Persia trilogy mac & linux

Multi:
-Age of Empires 2, age of empires 1 DE & Age of Empires 4
-Rainbow Six Siege
-Quake Champions
-PUGB
-Killing Floor 2

Prince of Persia trilogy!!!
