Another night endlessly browsing for new Linux games and I came across Dead Ground [Steam], a game that blends a Roguelike with Tower Defense.

While the trailer only gives you a really quick glimpse at the game, what we can already see does look pretty interesting. I do love it when developers blend genres together like this to give a fresh experience.

I decided to ensure it's coming to Linux, here's what the developer said:

[…]Yes, Dead Ground will be available for both Linux and Windows at release.

Features:

  • Procedurally generated levels
  • Tons of randomised loot - guns, skills, augments
  • Manage and upgrade your base
  • Boss fights
  • Random events
  • Unlock new heroes and artefacts to further customise the game
  • Permadeath

It's "Coming Soon" with no solid date yet, but it sounds really quite good. I'm certainly excited to try it out, so I will keep you posted on any developments.
