The RPG sequel looks to be coming sooner than expected, on April 3. Obsidian have also put up the game for preorder.
Direct Link
This is one that I’ve been looking forward to getting my hands on for a while. Despite a few shortcomings, the first Pillars of Eternity was a fun and memorable experience and Deadfire [Official Site] is a direct sequel to the events of that game. Set in the Deadfire Archipelago, players once again take control of the Watcher and chase down the revived god of light, Eothas.
Obsidian have announced a deluxe edition of their game, containing a few extras like a soundtrack, an in-game pet and a few other goodies. Players who preorder any edition of the game will also be getting bonuses in the form of unique in-game items. There’s also an edition that bundles in future DLC in what’s essentially a season pass, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Previous Obsidian RPGs like Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity made good on their promise of Linux support and were available on launch but it’s hard to know for sure until closer to the release date. So, all these bonuses might look fine and dandy, but I have to add our usual advice against preordering games, as a matter of course.
If you want to do it anyway, you can preorder on Steam, GOG, and Obsidian's own store. You can also see the full announcement here.
I guess "Depth of Extinction" might be out a little sooner, possibly "NWN:EE" or "Stoneshard" but I think those are most likely even later.
"Pathfinder Kingmaker", "The Iron Oath"and "Fell Seal: Arbiter´s Mark" are almost certainly late in the year. No idea about "Underworld Ascendant" and "The Bard´s Tale IV". Well, I still haven´t bought "Battlechasers" either, just waiting for some positive words about the linux-beta before I buy.

I'm really excited for Pillars II. I'm hoping for some of Tyranny's features to seep into it.
Quoting: valczirI'm still debating in my head whether or not I liked Tyranny better than Pillars. Either way, those two games are my favorites in nearly a decade. I'd definitely agree that Pillars had its issues, but every single game on the planet does - one's favorite games are always just games that have issues one can stomach. In my opinion they are both equally good, just different. Pillars has in my opinion the best combat mechanics, and Tyranny the best world and story.

I'll definitely buy Pillars of Eternity II when it's out and the first few reviews have trickled in. I got burned on Tides of Numenera and will never preorder a game again.

In Tyranny I have 9.5 hours so far and I can't start enjoying it. I don't know why to be honest, but I love PoE, but Tyranny? Not so much...

Quoting: wojtek88Give it some more time. I had a hard time liking it in the beginning too, but after about 10 hours I started to get it and enjoy it.Quoting: valczirI'm still debating in my head whether or not I liked Tyranny better than Pillars. There's a lot of information to assimilate in the beginning, and having to be cruel and evil can be off-putting as well. You can however be relatively benign in most circumstances and not hardcore evil.
Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
