After initially denying the request from Zachtronics to have Opus Magnum on GOG, it seems they changed their minds!
As of today, GOG now have Opus Magnum for purchase and that pleases me. It's one of the best puzzle games I've played in a long time and I thought GOG were crazy not to want it on their store.

About the game:
Opus Magnum is the latest open-ended puzzle game from Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem, Infinifactory, TIS-100, and SHENZHEN I/O. Master the intricate, physical machinery of the transmutation engine— the alchemical engineer’s most advanced tool— and use it to create vital remedies, precious gemstones, deadly weapons, and more.
I haven't changed my mind on it since reviewing it, it's absolutely wonderful! If you usually get confused by their games, do give this one a go! Not much else to say that I haven't said already about it—go get it. You can grab it on GOG now. It's also on Steam and Humble Store.

Any insights into why GoG would deny a request to sell the game?
I find that difficult to believe, especially considering they have several other of Zach's games. It's not like there isn't any competition out there for GoG, quite the contrary. If I were in GoG's position, I'd probably do anything to get people coming to my store and keep them there... if people were actually coming to me and asking me to take a share of their revenue, why would I want to deny them?

Especially since this is probably the most polished game Zachtronics has done to date. My only reasonable guess would be that they tried to get it approved during the early access period and that gog only wanted to approve it after the final release.

This is mostly a rumour, but allegedly Opus Magnum looked too much like a mobile game to GOG.
Frankly, I've long since given up on expecting anything rational from GOG.
