Another day, another big sale is going on. Today is the turn of Valve as they're doing a big Lunar New Year sale. Valve have also revamped Steam's Wishlist feature.
I decided to pick ten games I think people should pick up for various reasons. It's extremely difficult to condense so many awesome Linux games, but my varied choices here I think are a good set for people to look into (if you still haven't!).
- Tomb Raider - 85% off, Since Rise of the Tomb Raider is officially coming to Linux, getting this played through is a good idea (the price is also ridiculous!).
- Insurgency - 85% off, It's a solid tactical FPS and if plenty of Linux users buy it, hopefully they will continue to stay committed to getting Insurgency: Sandstorm on Linux.
- Victor Vran - 75% off, a pretty damn good action RPG. Tons of content and tons of loot! It's also from the studio developing Surviving Mars, which releases with Linux support next month.
- XCOM 2 - 67% off or XCOM 2 Collection (including the excellent WotC expansion) - 50% off.
- Dying Light - 60% off or Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition - 67% off.
- Stellaris - 60% off, with the huge expansion due soon it's a fab time to grab it.
- Oxygen Not Included - 40% off, probably one of the most engrossing space-colony simulation games I've ever played. Klei have a great history of Linux support too.
- Overfall - 40% off, not one I've mentioned for a while, but it's a solid RPG with turn-based battles where you travel across the sea and visit various islands.
- Rusted Warfare - 40% off, I could write paragraphs about my love for this 2D RTS. It brings back so many good memories of Total Annihilation and the recent Steam Workshop update, plus all the other updates makes it really damn fun.
- Streets of Rogue - 33% off, we had far too much fun during livestreams with this one, absolute madness!
Be sure to share games you feel people absolutely cannot miss in the comments, why don't you pick your top five games that maybe aren't too well known, but you love them? Will be interesting to see what you come up with.
As for the Steam Wishlist, Valve put up a blog post here announcing the changes resulting in a total revamp of the Wishlist system and it's tons better. You can filter per platform, filter out certain titles like Early Access to only see them when they're done and so on. Good stuff from Valve, was long overdue. Now Valve, about the Steam Library and how it's really needing a revamp…

Wishlist is gigantic now, why do they do this, like those places that only put 10 items on a page load. I can only see 4 items one screen at once because they are so damn big. I really wish places would make tight compact lists for wishlists so you can go over them quickly.

For the most part it's fairly playable here, but there are some areas - the main castle, for example - where the framerate drops like a stone for no readily apparent reason. On the face of it, it looks like one of the less-demanding areas in the game, yet that's where it seems to struggle.
My main issue with it, though, is that it seems so... soulless. I mean it's enjoyable enough, but it just never seemed to grab me. I've never found myself standing in a queue in the supermarket thinking, “Dammit, I'd really rather be playing Victor Vran right now”.
Maybe I should give it another chance. People obviously see something in it.

Why are we still using absolute pixel values? I get that people have HDPI displays now, but that shouldn't mean half-inch high letters on my old steam-powered monitor. Scaling, people, scaling.
But yeah, the new wishlist is hardly a thing of eternal beauty, but it's okay. Does the job.

Yeah, I just took a look at the new wishlist and its horrible. I really don't understand why they felt the need to change it. There was nothing wrong with it to begin with. When you try fixing something that isn't broken, you usually just end up making it worse.

The amount of times I've restarted Tomb Raider due to a reinstall or something, I don't think I will ever finish the story.

Oh no, with the wishlist revamp, they also removed old games from it which were no longer available on Steam... used to have Divinity 2: Ego Draconis saga there as a reminder... well, it's all just in my head now. :D

Well..someone should also point out that there are sales at paradoxplaza, so if you are missing a paradox DLC you want, you can check there first. Old DLCs get a 50% discount as they do on steam, but you also get the 3 for 2 deal so it can get up to 66% discount (not to mention that paradox gets all the money). Personally will try to complete my CK2 collection.
As for steam sales.. I am also getting the old Tomb Raider..yes..I didn't have it..you can shame me if you want..
PS: still a little worried after reading yesterday's news about paradox (yes the publisher not the developer..but still..)
