Another day, another big sale is going on. Today is the turn of Valve as they're doing a big Lunar New Year sale. Valve have also revamped Steam's Wishlist feature.
I decided to pick ten games I think people should pick up for various reasons. It's extremely difficult to condense so many awesome Linux games, but my varied choices here I think are a good set for people to look into (if you still haven't!).
- Tomb Raider - 85% off, Since Rise of the Tomb Raider is officially coming to Linux, getting this played through is a good idea (the price is also ridiculous!).
- Insurgency - 85% off, It's a solid tactical FPS and if plenty of Linux users buy it, hopefully they will continue to stay committed to getting Insurgency: Sandstorm on Linux.
- Victor Vran - 75% off, a pretty damn good action RPG. Tons of content and tons of loot! It's also from the studio developing Surviving Mars, which releases with Linux support next month.
- XCOM 2 - 67% off or XCOM 2 Collection (including the excellent WotC expansion) - 50% off.
- Dying Light - 60% off or Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition - 67% off.
- Stellaris - 60% off, with the huge expansion due soon it's a fab time to grab it.
- Oxygen Not Included - 40% off, probably one of the most engrossing space-colony simulation games I've ever played. Klei have a great history of Linux support too.
- Overfall - 40% off, not one I've mentioned for a while, but it's a solid RPG with turn-based battles where you travel across the sea and visit various islands.
- Rusted Warfare - 40% off, I could write paragraphs about my love for this 2D RTS. It brings back so many good memories of Total Annihilation and the recent Steam Workshop update, plus all the other updates makes it really damn fun.
- Streets of Rogue - 33% off, we had far too much fun during livestreams with this one, absolute madness!
Be sure to share games you feel people absolutely cannot miss in the comments, why don't you pick your top five games that maybe aren't too well known, but you love them? Will be interesting to see what you come up with.
As for the Steam Wishlist, Valve put up a blog post here announcing the changes resulting in a total revamp of the Wishlist system and it's tons better. You can filter per platform, filter out certain titles like Early Access to only see them when they're done and so on. Good stuff from Valve, was long overdue. Now Valve, about the Steam Library and how it's really needing a revamp…
Ps. You can see Linux sales on our Sales Page, which updates constantly.

Quoting: sn0rlaxPerhaps someone can enlighten me on why Victor Vran is recommended. I bought it and it's the worst performing game I've ever played. Seems like a garbage port. Are you getting good performance from it?
Not a single crash and good performance so far.

Anybody of you is Chinese?
If so, could you share some enlightenment about the latest developments on Steam regarding the huge increase of Chinese users?
I'd really appreciate some input from China, more than Western guessing...

Quoting: qptain NemoThere is no accounting for taste but I thought it looks alright. At least clear to read and informative. I'm always curious about users' grievances with particular UI decisions though.
It's not about the looks (for me), but about information and functionality.
The list used to have some ten items on a screen for me, now it's barely five. I've got 67 items on the list at the moment. So at a glance, it yields way less information (I care for) than before.
I got an item at the top which I wanted to have at the bottom (as we're now supposed to whish list Windows items as well, I'm putting those at the bottom and told my wife she could gift me one of the upper ones (She will not do any filtering. Won't happen.)). This used to be easy, waiting some seconds with the item "in hand" and the list scrolled below. This stopped working, the list is not scrolling anymore when I reach the edge of the screen.
The whish list is broken.
*edit* I found something not too obvious: There's a rank number at the lower left of every item - and you can just change it! The manual moving of items is still broken, though. And "scroll down, look where it should end up, scroll up, enter the number" is not an optimal UI either...

Hmmm... manual moving is no more a thing, but at least now you just have to change the rank number and it will be saved directly, before you had to manually save changes... It's not that bad even if "drag and drop" was a cool feature (but with more than 1000 games in my wishlist dragging items was less than optimal for classification ^^)... :)

Manual moving is still possible with the "grabber" at the left, but not practical for more then some five ranks I guess.
Probably for a very small or a very large number, the new method is better.
Was it obvious to you you could just change the number? I just tried it out of... despair.

Well... I don't find the "grabber"... (but clicking "TOP" I can put any game from my wishlist at its top)
About "changing the number", I was using this method before this update so it is not new to me... but you're right that the functionality is not really that obvious to find (was more obvious before I think). :P

Anybody of you is Chineese?
If so, could you share some enlightenment about the latest developments on Steam regarding the huge increase of Chineese users?

Not Chinese (Ethnic or National). But I'm live in significant majority Malaysian Chinese housing area. But still, 39.5% of Malaysia is on Asia continent which means we're Asian right. :D
@Eike
Again, I don't know much about China, but remember our comments about Malaysian/Asian gaming scene few months ago? The situation still unchanged except there is 5v5 version of Vainglory which very hot stuff in my hometown.
There is no generally SE Asian-wide gaming news or generally tech news website as far as I know. Most of time, we read our own country news website (English and/or local language) but you can read on Tech in Asia for a start.
p/s: BTW, my bloodline/ethnicity is super messy. Cannot tell exactly what the mixed is (privacy concern).
Quoting: johndoeQuoting: BrisseFinally I've acquired Hollow Knight which I just played for almost 2 hours and it seems pretty cool, and Divinity: Original Sin EE which I tried to launch but it just crashes instead. Bedtime now so I'll have to investigate that tomorrow, but worst case scenario I'd just get a refund but I really would like to get it working.
Anyone seen this error before?
This game is great. Don't give up too fast, but it's some kind of broken when you use mesa drivers. Read here...

Compiling the "LD_PRELOAD shim" works for me.

Many thanks to you both! I got it working now and you probably saved me hours of troubleshooting :)
