Farm Together [Steam] is the latest game from Milkstone Studios, a chilled out farming sim where you and friends (even strangers) can work together to build a huge farm.

The developer has confirmed we will be sent keys when it goes into Early Access on February 22nd. So expect our impressions on it at some point.

Milkstone Studios previously developed Ziggurat, White Noise 2, Pharaonic and more and they all support Linux. It's fantastic to see a developer continue to push out Linux games.

About the game:

Grow crops, plant trees, take care of the animals, and much more! Spend your hard-earned money in new buildings and items for your farm! Earn experience and unlock even more items and buildings!

Stay for as long as you want! In Farm Together time advances even if you're not online, so you can be sure you'll have something to do when you come back later.

Manage your farm all by yourself, allow entrance only to your friends, or open it to the public and start cultivating together! A simple permission system allows you to limit what strangers can do, so they can help with it without risks of vandalizing.

I have to admit, it does look really damn sweet. I can see myself playing this with my family quite happily.

Looks good! It has a very Bokujou Monogatori (Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons) feel to it. Me and the girlfriend will enjoy playing this together. :D

Very excited about this. No violence, no brain hurting puzzles, no dating simulation, just pretty, peaceful farming.

I'd like to dispute the "no violence" statement when "taking care of animals" is involved..

Animal agriculture inherently involvs violence. Even though it may not be depicted in this game, it still promotes animal agriculture which in real life has that violence. In Dairy, calves are ripped from their mothers shortly after birth. Most of the males will shortly be sent to be killed for veal. The females are condemned to a short life of pain and suffering, and having their babies ripped away (so we can have their milk). In the poultry industry, baby males are frequently ground up alive in a macerator.. That is all just the start.. #DairyisScary #Earthlings #Dominion #landofhopeandglory

If this game had only plant agriculture I'd be all for it, but I won't contribute to further brainwashing of the youth by the inclusion of our taking advantage of other animal species when it is not only unnecessary, but harmful to us (both health-wise and environmentally).

Also, this is a poor simulation of animal agriculture today in any case, as almost all farmed animals come from CAFO's... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intensive_animal_farming

I think you missed the part where it's a game. ;)

Unless it was developed with funding from agricultural lobbyist groups, and explicitly encourages young audiences to become factory farmers, I think we can safely assume it isn't designed to be pro-cruel farming propoganda. As such, please take your crusade elsewhere.

I especially love the part where the cute little escapist fantasy farming game is too unrealistic, but zombie rampages are totally fine. :P

Zombie rampages aren't real, and aren't destroying our world... (yet)

Meh, I hear ya.. The animal industry probably isn't directly funding it, but they have funded (either directly or indirectly) a lot of other things brainwashing people into thinking the happy happy farm in this game is the way it is.. I'm actively involved in trying to change those perceptions in real life, so when seeing animated games promoting that vision, it gets to me.

The same rebelliousness that got me on the train to try to change the world with Linux 20 years ago drives me to try to open the worlds eyes regarding animal ag now..

I'm not gonna say any more though, and will "take it elsewhere"

Cr@p, Liam is trying to get me even MORE riled up with another farming simulator review! :D Not clear if that one actually has animal ag or not, tho..

The game looks enjoyable to me. Perhaps, I will get it and play with my kids.

On the side topic of animal agriculture wrongdoings, I do agree that there is a big problem that's been behind the scenes for a long time. This isn't the first time I've heard of CAFO. I live in the mid-western United States.
