Dead Maze [Steam, Official Site] is a colourful and quite interesting free MMO that has Linux support. It's currently in a closed beta, but they've now announced the release date for everyone.

On the 13th of February, the game will official open the flood-gates for you to all jump in. Their support of Linux so far has been pretty good, they even gave us a ton of closed beta keys to give away previously so they could get more testers.

Here's their new trailer:

I do love the fact that it's not just "another PvP MMO", since there's a lot of them (although not that many on Linux). The idea of it being players together against the world has a lot of charm to it. I also love the amount of items you can pick up to swing at the zombies, it can be quite amusing.

If you've been playing the closed beta, do let people know what your thoughts are in the comments.

I was able to get one of the beta keys, and I appreciate that.

However, I found the game lackluster at best. The game was ok, but it just seemed very slow going and bored me. YMMV.

It has some excellent features, such as no leveling, so zones and monsters and objects are never obsolete.

I don't like much the zombie them, nor the grind ( the housing is not very appealing), and the lack of reward for exploring beside doing the main quest is a little sad, but still i think it's quite unique and will easily find its public.

I clearly enjoyed my hours on this one (finished the story line, and some more), and will play more.

Another MMOG on Linux you may want to have a eye on, is Tale of Toast. Seems kidish at first, but it's a class-less, seamless open world old school combat (target, and use skills, semi turn based like DAoC, EQ, etc) MMORPG, with open PvP and crafting matters.

There is always Shroud of the Avatar. I've been tempted to try it. It is the spiritual successor to Ultima Online, but you do have to pay for it. (And I will not like being forced to pay for something if it is just as grindy as most MMOs.)

I've tried RPG MO and I definitely wouldn't put it in the "good MMOG" category.

You also missed Ryzom, which has an overly complicated skill system but is otherwise pretty good, and Wakfu, which has a really cool combat mechanic, although I hear it's not very newbie-friendly right now.

RPG MO is an awesome grinder, really well done, but you need to focus on it for a while before you can have a good view of its potential.

I guess 41 hours isn't enough to reveal its true worth. All I experienced in all that time was grind without any real benefit.

Kind of work-reward without the second part. At least with Wild Terra you get a sweet base out of it and there are some interesting mechanics.
