Many asked, now Feral Interactive have answered. Rise of the Tomb Raider [Steam] is officially on the way to Linux! What a fantastic way to start a Tuesday with news like this! It still amazes me to this day that Linux will have games like this, very happy with the news!
Feral aren't saying exactly when it will arrive, but they had a tweet out that said "This Winter" which has since been deleted (Edit: replaced with this one). You can see the official confirmation on their official site which now says "This spring", so it could be here sometime between March and late June.
The advantage of getting a game later than Windows, is we get the 20 Year Celebration edition which has all the DLC.
For those wondering, it will indeed use Vulkan on Linux! This is confirmed at the bottom of the Features page on the mini-site.

The game has been loved by reviewers and users alike, so it looks like it will be a solid hit for Linux gamers after more Lara. It takes the first game and makes nearly all aspects of it bigger and better than before, including more actual Tombs.
It seems this is the game that has replaced the previous Linux port teaser of "O VAIN ILLUSION OF GLORY AND GRANDEUR" that was put up back in October of last year. We still have to discover the game behind the "It's just a shot away" teaser that was put up in January, so there's more on the way remember!

Good to see Square Enix is still committed! After not seeing anything from them making its way to Linux for a while, I was getting worried!
Hitman was still square enix when it was announced for linux that came out last year, io went indie after the linux port was out.

Not wanting the game is fine , Saying the game should "die in a fire " is interpreted by me as the game should not exist for any of us.

The problem was AMDs terrible OpenGL drivers. I tried shadow of Mordor on the latest AMD drivers prior to switching to mesa. They supported OpenGL 4.5. Did the game run? Nope. However on the latest version of mesa it currently does but it was definitely the OpenGL driver being broken. Something I'm hoping their vulkan drivers don't suffer from. That being said mesa is generally just better.I'm hoping vulkan will mean an end to their "we only officially support nVidia cards" stance that they've had on some of their titles because I WANT THIS GAME. XD
I know that it has not been always the case but all games ported by Feral work on AMD now, no? (with recent versions of MESA and despite what some of the Steam requirements indicate) The problem wasn't really Vulkan (or OpenGL version) but more on the availability of drivers (from AMD or Open Source) versions supporting it (or OpenGL > 3) in most distributions (and SteamOS mainly). Feral contribute to MESA development since some time now... :S:

While this is a great idea, AFAIK you should wait until the release, or Feral will not get any money. I think you should give it back for now. (What's the word? Recash?)

Now that is damn sweet. The first Tomb Raider was a solid game, with a little less content maybe, but reading that this one has more of the good content, I will surely buy it.

It's more that Rise of the Tomb Raider isn't actually released for GNU/Linux yet. F1 is. So Feral should see something from the steam sale right now, but until Rise of the Tomb Raider is out, they won't see anything for that.
Thanks for that info. I would rather have all funds goto Feral so I've signed up for their newsletter and will look for sales directly from them.

Seeing this announcement spurred me on to actually play the first game & finish the main storyline, I'm now ready for the next chapter, so bring it on Feral! :D
ps I'm not buying it till I see an official release announcement from Feral, I've made that mistake in the past.

Definitely going to be the most beautiful native game for Linux and one of the few open world survival games; the only one to use Vulkan. This is awesome for Linux gaming! A new one is coming after this one and I really hope that doesn't get delayed so long

ok, I don’t like games like this, but I bought it to support feral and to test vulkan. yahoooooo!!!Why would they need to? The game already runs on Linux and is arguably more native then their ports. It isn't very well optimized and has some bugs but that's just ark on all platforms
ps. any hope feral can put hands on Ark survival evolved?
